Flamengo defeated Corinthians 1-0, in the seventh round of the national competition, at Maracanã. With the triumph, Mais Querido jumped to sixth place on the leaderboard, adding 12 points. After the match, Jorge Sampaoli was asked about possible names on the right flank. However, he made it clear that the team has other positions of greater urgency.

“Dirigi Montiel at Sevilla (ESP), he is a great full-back. We have a lot of confidence in Wesley, in the return of Matheuzinho and in Varela too. Today I would look at other positions where the team needs it more urgently”, declared Jorge Sampaoli, in a post-game press conference.

After making a bad start in terms of signings, Flamengo has been committed to moving the ball market. Even before the transfer window opened, Mais Querido acted quickly and signed an agreement with Luiz Araújo, striker from Atlanta United (USA). The athlete arrives at Mengo on July 1st and will have a contract valid for four and a half years.

In Fla's sights, other names have already emerged, such as midfielder Pablo Roberto, from Remo, and midfielder Nicolás De La Cruz, from River Plate (ARG). The last mentioned, in fact, the red-black directors have already started conversations with the athlete's representatives. However, the Argentine team has already made it clear that it is not considering trading the Uruguayan for less than 10 million euros (around R$53 million at current prices).

While reinforcements do not arrive, Jorge Sampaoli has already Think about the next appointment you have ahead of you. This Wednesday (24), Flamengo will go to Chile to face Ñublense (CHI), in the Libertadores da América. The duel takes place at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Concepción Municipal Stadium.

Guilhermo Varela has been a standout for Flamengo this season and has already played 100 games with the Manto Sagrado. The full-back has a contract with the club until the end of the year and wants to stay with the team. Therefore, the Mais Querido is moving quickly to renew his contract. José Boto gave an update on the situation.

José Boto updates Varela's situation: "It's well underway. When we get to Rio, we'll deal with it."

He continued: " We didn't want to go any further because we're in a competition that I think is unique to all of us . Obviously, things don't stop because there's a competition like that, but we sat down and we have things well underway."

It is worth remembering that Varela 's agent was in the United States to meet with José Boto and discuss the full-back's contract renewal. Thus, the parties appear to have reached an agreement and the player will soon be able to sign a new contract with the club.

100 GAMES WITH THE CLOTHING

Last week, Varela reached an important milestone with the Manto Sagrado. The full-back reached 100 games for Flamengo, becoming the 15th foreigner to reach such a number in the history of Mais Querido.

SEASON SEQUENCE

After being eliminated from the Club World Cup, Flamengo will only return to the field on the week of July 13, when they will face São Paulo in the Brasileirão. In the meantime, the red-and-black squad will enjoy a few days of vacation before returning to activities.

With an uncompromising stance on the market for both player arrivals and departures, José Boto opened up and revealed Flamengo's priorities in the transfer window that opens next month. It is worth remembering that the Rubro-Negro raised a considerable amount with its participation in the Club World Cup.

FLAMENGO'S PRIORITIES IN THE MARKET

In an interview with GE, José Boto revealed that Flamengo is looking for a midfielder and a winger in the market. Rubro-Negro wants a player who can alternate with Arrascaeta and a "dribbler" striker , who can open up defenses.

José Boto talks about priorities in the market: "There are two positions that we want to strengthen, one because we think there is a lack of a different type of player".

He continued: " And the other, as you have already said, and I have already said publicly, is someone who takes turns with Arrascaeta , so that he doesn't have to play so many games and is always in his best condition," said Boto before adding:

"These are two positions that we have priority in bringing, but without any great rush or need to make mistakes, to do it hastily. Because what we have done so far shows that we are doing well ," he highlighted.

FLAMENGO IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH JORGE CARRASCAL

Flamengo seems to have already found Arrascaeta 's replacement. This is because the Mais Querido is negotiating with Jorge Carrascal , a Colombian midfielder who belongs to Dynamo Moscow (RUS). Thus, with the Rubro-Negro's elimination from the Club World Cup, José Boto will intensify talks to close a deal with the player for the rest of the season.

Flamengo was eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup, but according to Fábio Luciano, the red-and-black team's performance was far from being a match of absolute dominance by the Germans, as many predicted. The expectation was that Flamengo would suffer with the intensity and volume of play characteristic of the Bavarian team.

RUBRO-NEGRO ALSO HAD CONTROL AT TIMES IN THE GAME

Fábio Luciano on Flamengo x Bayern: "It wasn't a broad dominance"

For Fábio Luciano, despite the adverse score, Flamengo had moments of control in the match, as did Bayern. The former defender highlighted that the goals conceded by Rubro-Negro happened precisely when the team was better on the field , which highlights decisive individual errors.

" They weren't production goals. At times, Bayern had control , Bayern pressed up, but Flamengo managed to control. In the best moments that Flamengo, for example, had in the game, Bayern scored their goals, from individual errors," said Fábio Luciano.

FLAMENGO DID NOT BOW BEFORE THE OPPONENT

Even with the elimination, Flamengo leaves with morale due to its offensive and combative stance against one of the world's football powers. According to Fábio Luciano, the Rubro-Negro showed that, unlike other South American clubs, it does not shy away from European opponents.

"It wasn't a broad dominance, where Bayern suffocated Flamengo and, like, ah, at any moment the goal will come. I think the goals came at moments that perhaps Flamengo didn't expect to concede," he added.

NUMBERS SHOW BALANCE IN THE MATCH

Statistical data confirm the balance:

  • Ball possession: Flamengo 51% x Bayern 49%
  • Finalizations: Flamengo 12 x 8 Bayern
  • Passes exchanged: Flamengo 457 x 448 Bayern
