The Flamengo is considered the "paying train" of Brazilian football. This is because, as the club with the biggest fans, Mais Querido generates million-dollar revenue and income for several cities, states and clubs. In this way, Rubro-Negro moved around R$2 billion in January 2023 and boosted the economy of Rio de Janeiro.

In data released by the Secretary of Urban and Economic Development of Rio de Janeiro, Chicão Bulhões, he detailed economic figures for Rio football. According to the study "Football in Data", by the city's Economic Observatory, the 76 games in Mais Querido in 2023 generated R$ 2 billion.

On average, each game of Rubro-Negro generated R$ 26.5 million. In Rio alone, Mais Querido took 1.8 million people to Maracanã, moving more than R$480 million inside the stadiums alone.

In addition, fans also moved the economy outside the stadiums. In bars and restaurants in Rio, Nação Rubro-Negra generated R$232 million on game days. Each match in Rio had an impact of R$ 14.7 million.

Mais Querido also impacted the city in away games. This is because revenue from bars and restaurants was R$314 million. Thus, Rubro-Negro is one of those that generate the most revenue for Rio de Janeiro.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT MATCH

This Wednesday (17) , the city of Rio de Janeiro could have another high revenue. This is because Mais Querido hosts São Paulo, at Maracanã, to compete in the second round of the Brasileirão. So, in addition to the "Sacred Temple", bars and restaurants will also be packed to watch Flamengo.
