Flamengo will receive compensation from FIFA for Pedro's injury, which occurred while the striker was serving the Brazilian national team. The request was made shortly after the rupture of a ligament in his knee, which ruled the player out of the remainder of the season. The entity committed to covering the athlete's salaries during his recovery period. However, to avoid a loss estimated at around R$4 million, the Rio club will also request compensation from the CBF.

The FIFA Club Protection Program covers players' salaries with a limit of 7 .5 million euros (approximately R$46.6 million) and for a maximum period of 365 days. In Pedro's case, the attacker receives R$550,000 in salary and another R$550,000 in image rights, totaling R$1.1 million per month. FIFA's compensation, however, only covers half of this amount.

For this reason, Flamengo intends to ask the CBF to pay the other R$550,000 relating to image rights. As Pedro should be in recovery for around eight months, the absence of this amount would mean a loss of R$4.4 million. Information about Flamengo's request to the CBF was released by journalist Lauro Jardim, from O Globo.

Also according to the journalist, Flamengo's request has already been accepted by FIFA, and the club will begin receiving the money from the 29th day of the injury. This Tuesday (24) marks the 20th day, which indicates that the first deposit must be made on October 3, a Thursday.

CBF guarantees help to Flamengo

After the draw for field hosts for the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil, held last Friday (20), Rodrigo Caetano, former Flamengo manager and current CBF selection coordinator, commented about the compensation that the club is entitled to receive. He stated that the CBF has its own insurance for athlete injuries and assured that it will provide support to Flamengo with FIFA.

“Every athlete called up has mandatory insurance from FIFA in addition to insurance contracted by the CBF. This is being handled by the legal department, but I believe it is a right. What I can tell you is that the CBF is a facilitator in every way so that not Pedro, but Flamengo, has the right to this type of compensation”, communicated the CBF.

Flamengo's phase in the Brazilian Championship is not the best. With only two victories in the return of the competition, the Rio club faces difficulties caused by injuries to important players such as Pedro, Michael and Cebolinha. Furthermore, Gabigol, one of the main names in the squad, is going through a difficult time, without performing as expected.

Recently, Rubro-Negro received yet another setback: striker Carlinhos could miss the team for at least least six games in the Brasileirão. The player's situation, which had already been criticized by the fans, generated internal demands at the club.

CARLINHOS UNDER PRESSURE AND COULD LEAVE IN 2024Internally, the board of Flamengo does not hide his dissatisfaction with Carlinhos' performance, who has not delivered the minimum expected for a player with his responsibility. Given this, the possibility of a loan or even contract termination at the end of this season is already being discussed, if the scenario does not change, according to the portal O Dia.

On social media, fans blush -Negros spared no criticism of the attacker. Comments such as “Carlinhos does not have the level to play for Mais Querido” and “The number of goals missed by number 22 is unbelievable” demonstrate the dissatisfaction of the fans, who see the player as a weak point in the team.

< br> SKILLS AND RESERVE SQUAD AGAINST GRÊMIO

In the last match against Grêmio, Mengão went to the field with a completely reserve team, as 12 players were rested due to a technical option. With that, Carlinhos was named as a starter in attack. Names like Bruno Henrique, Gonzalo Plata and Gabigol did not travel to Porto Alegre, leaving the offensive sector lacking. Even with the chance to stand out, Carlinhos was unable to take advantage of the opportunity, which intensified criticism of his performance.

The match will be held at Maracanã, at 8pm (Brasília time), and Flamengo urgently needs to gain points to improve its position in the table and alleviate internal and external pressure.
