The confrontation between Flamengoand Bahia in the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil brought remarkable reunions. On one side, coach Rogério Ceni, former coach of Mais Querido, and Éverton Ribeiro, idol of the Rio club, now defending the colors of Tricolor de Aço. However, neither of them managed to stop the advance of Mengão, who won the two games, round trip, 1-0, guaranteeing a place in the semi-finals of the competition.

With classification assured, Rubro-Negro is now preparing to face Corinthians in search of a place in the grand final of the Brazilian Cup. It is worth remembering that in 2022 the club won the title over São Paulo.

CENI RECOGNIZES FLAMENGO'S STRENGTH

After the elimination, Bahia's coach, Rogério Ceni, gave an interview collective where he analyzed his team's performance and highlighted the superiority of Flamengo. Ceni, who has a history of defeats against Mengão, once again praised the quality of the red and black squad, highlighting the difficulty of facing such a well-structured team.

“Facing Flamengo is never easy. They have a very strong team, with great technical quality, and they showed that in both games. Despite our efforts, we were unable to be more efficient”, said the coach.

ÉVERTON RIBEIRO ADMITS FRUSTRATION

On Bahia's side, Éverton Ribeiro also commented on the match, expressing frustration with the result. The former Mengão number 10 recognized the strength of the CRF, but believes that the Esquadrão de Aço could have presented more consistent football on the field, especially in a decisive confrontation.

“There is a feeling of great frustration . In the first game, we had a good performance, but today we were not incisive, we were unable to scare Flamengo”, declared Ribeiro. The player added: “In games like this, where a place is decided, we need to be more persistent, create more chances and finish better.”

This Monday (16), rumors emerged involving Bahia's interest in signing Gabigol, striker from Mais Querido. According to the channel Paparazzo Rubro-Negro, Tricolor de Aço would have entered the dispute for Gabigol, who has a contract with Flamengojust until December this year. In addition to Bahia, clubs such as Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Grêmio, Palmeiras and Santos would also be keeping an eye on the player.

Despite the speculation, the Bahia board was quick to deny any ongoing negotiations to count on the shirt 99 from Mengão. According to the club's leadership, there is no intention of repeating an operation similar to that carried out with Everton Ribeiro.

BAHIA'S INTEREST IS DENIED BY THE BOARD< /b>

As soon as news of the supposed interest began to circulate, Bahia tried to clarify the situation. In a statement, the club's senior management stated that there are no negotiations to sign Gabigol for next season. The information of possible interest, therefore, was directly denied by Tricolor's directors.

Even so, the attacker remains one of the most targeted names in the transfer market for 2025, as he is in the final stretch of contract with Flamengoand you can now sign a pre-contract with any other team.

CORINTHIANS STAND OUT AS FAVORITE

With Bahia's denial, Corinthians remains the main favorite to sign Gabigol from next year. The possibility of the red-black striker wearing the Timão shirt gains strength, especially after coach Tite appointed Gabigol as the third option for Mengão's attacking command, behind Pedro and Bruno Henrique.
