Sesc Flamengo, one of the main teams in Brazilian volleyball, underwent a significant reformulation for the 2024/25 season, and one of the main new additions to the squad is central Jussara. With extensive international experience and after an excellent spell at Maringá last season, the 28-year-old athlete spoke exclusively about her arrival at the club, her plans and the fierce competition for a place in the starting team.
CHOICE FOR SESC FLAMENGO AND GROWTH PROSPECTS
Like other players in the squad, Jussara highlights the quality of the team and the excellence of the committee technique led by Bernardinho as crucial factors in his decision to wear the Flamengo shirt. The center, who has already played in Portugal, France, Israel and other Brazilian clubs, sees his arrival at Sesc Flamengo as a great opportunity to boost his career.
"Sesc RJ Flamengo is one of the biggest clubs from Brazil. Knowing the team's interest in me was extremely gratifying and motivating. Without a shadow of a doubt, playing at Sesc RJ Flamengo with this structure and this coaching staff will give me what I need to advance my career", said Jussara.< /p>
TEAM PERFORMANCE AND GOALS FOR THE SEASON
Sesc Flamengo was eliminated in the Superliga semi-finals in the last three editions. The biggest champion since the merger with the Sesc project, the club is now looking to return to the final and win the title that eluded them in previous seasons. Jussara believes that the newly formed group has the potential to achieve this goal.
"I believe in Sesc's return to the final. This squad has very good players and is being a huge showcase for us. For sure We will have the season of a lifetime to try, once again, to take Sesc RJ Flamengo to the final and the title", declared the central team.
CONTEST FOR THE TITLE AT SESC FLAMENGO
The central position is one of those that has undergone the most changes in the Sesc Flamengo squad for the 2024/25 season. With the departure of Juciely and Valquíria, starters in the last three seasons, the club hired Lorena and Jussara to fill these vacancies. Now, they join Juju and Adria, who were already part of the team, and the competition for a place in the starting lineup promises to be intense.

A gem formed in the Mengão youth system, Helena Wenk celebrated the opportunity to play as a starter for the first time . The player admitted that she faced difficulties at the beginning, but highlighted the learning acquired during the competition.
I learned a lot from this season..."
"It was difficult, a season of ups and downs. Everyone's first season is like that, more responsibility, the team studies you. I'm happy to have started one way and finished another. I played a good game, I learned a lot from this season. Now I'm going to the next one, to the national team. I learned a lot and God willing, everything will work out," said the Flamengo outside hitter.
Helena Wenk also commented on her expectations of being called up to the Brazilian volleyball team. Despite her desire to represent the country, the player prefers to remain cautious and avoid frustration.
"I don't have any expectations. Whatever God wants will work out . I want it, but I don't want to create expectations and get frustrated. But if I'm called up, I'll be very happy too," she revealed.
Another confirmed change in the squad is the departure of setter Brie. The player, who was part of the team for three seasons, announced her departure after the elimination against Osasco and became emotional when talking about her time at the club.
"I'm very grateful. It's been three wonderful years here. This team is my second family. I'm going to miss this team, the girls, the training center a lot. It was a dream to play here. I'm sad, but also happy for my three years," said Brie.

With the end of participation in theSuperliga , expectations revolve around changes for the next season. The next cycle will feature a direct investment from Flamengo after an agreement between the club, RJ Vôlei and Sesc RJ to reformulate the partnership. Marcus Vinicius Freire, the club's director of Olympic Sports, revealed in an interview with MundoBola Flamengo that the changes will be made official in the coming days.
From the start of the match, Sesc Flamengo tried to make it difficult for Osasco to receive the ball with forced serves. Despite a good defensive performance in the first few points, the team had difficulty finishing off counterattacks. The opponent was able to take better advantage of their offensive chances and closed the first half with a score of 25 to 18.
In the second set, the red-and-black team continued to struggle in attack and saw their opponents dominate most of the time. Osasco, with a good offensive performance, knew how to manage their advantage. The Mais Querido showed signs of a comeback at the end of the set, but could not avoid a 25-21 defeat .
The third set followed the same pattern, with Sesc Flamengo trying to equalize the action, but having difficulty scoring points at decisive moments. At the end of the set, the team showed a new reaction with good serves from Helena and reduced the difference on the scoreboard. However, errors in defining the points prevented the comeback, and Osasco secured the victory by 25 to 23, sealing the classification.
