Sesc Flamengo was defeated by Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde in the first game of theWomen's Superliga quarterfinals. Playing at the José Liberatti gymnasium in Osasco (SP), the team led by Bernardinho lost 3 sets to 1, with partial scores of 22x25, 25x20, 25x17 and 25x16. Now, the team needs to win the return match to force the third and decisive duel of the series.
The next match will be held at Maracanãzinho, in Rio de Janeiro, on Wednesday (2), at 9 pm, with broadcast on SporTV2. If they win, Mais Querido will take the decision of the spot in the semifinals to the third game, which will take place again in Osasco, on April 11.
ERRORS IN DEFENSE AND BLOCKING WERE DETERMINANT IN THE DEFEAT
The match started evenly, with the red-black team winning the first set by following Bernardinho's instructions. However, performance dropped in the following sets, with difficulties in passing the ball, blocking and defending. Opposite player Edinara stood out for Flamengo , being the team's top scorer, with 12 points.
Middle blocker Lorena analyzed the team's performance and pointed out the mistakes that need to be corrected for the next match: "Our teamwork needs to improve in terms of defense. They used what they do best, which is attack, and we gave them a little freedom to let loose and attack more. We also made a lot of mistakes, unlike what they were doing. We should have served a little better. We lost our patience. For the next match, we have to work better on the defense, reduce the mistakes and be patient."

Sesc Flamengo achieved an important victory over Tijuca Tênis Clube, this Tuesday (7), and sealed its place in the final of the Carioca Volleyball Championship. After the setback against Fluminense in the previous round, Bernardinho's team reacted with authority and won by 3 sets to 1, with partial scores of 25/21, 25/23 and 25/23.
Despite a brief stumble in the third set, when the opponent showed a strong reaction , Mais Querido maintained control of the match for most of the time and ensured its return to the state final.
The first two sets had a similar storyline: Sesc Flamengo dominated technically and tactically, but faced resistance from Tijuca Tênis Clube. In the first, the red-and-black team opened up a six-point lead, but saw their opponent close in late in the set, finishing 25-21.
The balance continued in the second set. The teams were tied at 20-20, until Mengão managed to open up a two-point lead and close it out at 25-23, extending their lead. In the third set, Tijuca fought back and took an 11-4 lead, exploiting Sesc Flamengo's defensive lapses. However, Bernardinho's team held their nerve, narrowed the gap, and regained control in the final stretch, turning the score around to 25-23.
With this result, Sesc Flamengo secured a spot in the final of the Rio de Janeiro Volleyball Championship, where they will once again face Fluminense—the team they defeated in the previous round. The final promises to be a tight contest, featuring two of the strongest squads in the state.
