With the mid-year transfer window approaching, Flamengo remains active in the market looking for reinforcements. Although the right-back is not the club's main priority at the moment, a name that could be in Mengão's sights again is that of Gilberto, a Brazilian player who plays for Benfica.
This is because the full-back's agent does not rule out the possibility of a return to Brazilian football. Furthermore, Alan Espinosa confirmed that Gilberto has received proposals from teams in Brazil. One of these clubs is Flamengo, which has been trying to bring the player since the end of last year.
“Indeed, some Brazilian clubs showed concrete interest in Gilberto during the last European season, but Benfica was irreducible and did not agree to negotiate at the time. These teams continue to monitor the player and, in case of progress, the situation will be taken to the Portuguese officials again. There is always the possibility of returning to Brazil”, said the businessman to TNT Sports.
Valencia, Sevilla and Porto have approached representatives for the defender, but Rubro-Negro does not intend to negotiate the player in the current 2025 window.

Flamengo recently rejected inquiries from three European clubs for defender Léo Pereira . According to the ge portal, Valencia, Sevilla, and Porto have expressed interest in the player , seeking information on the conditions for a potential deal.
Despite contact from representatives, the club's board made it clear that it has no intention of negotiating the player during this window . However, communication between the parties will remain open for future discussions.
Currently, the only way for Léo Pereira to leave the Rio de Janeiro club would be to pay the full release clause, set at 60 million euros (approximately R$380 million). A similar situation occurs with Léo Ortiz , who has also been targeted by European clubs.
Signed in 2020 to replace Pablo Marí, the defender arrived after the Spaniard's departure to Arsenal . At the time, Rubro-Negro paid around €7 million (approximately R$32 million) to Athletico-PR.
Since wearing the red-and-black jersey, Léo Pereira has made 251 appearances, scored 15 goals, and provided five assists. The defender has won a Copa Libertadores, a Campeonato Brasileiro , two Copa do Brasil titles, a Recopa Sudamericana, a Supercopa Rei, and four state titles.
Spanish defender, champion of the Libertadores and Brasileirão in 2019, has attracted interest from the Minas Gerais team, but is currently enjoying a good run of form in Italian football.

Pablo Marí, one of the key players in Flamengo's Libertadores and Brasileirão triumphs in 2019, may be in Atlético-MG's sights. According to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, a transfer market specialist, the Minas Gerais club has expressed interest in signing the Spanish defender , currently a starter for Fiorentina.
"Two foreign clubs have shown interest in defender Pablo Marí ," Schira revealed on social media. " Atlético Mineiro is interested in defender Pablo Marí ," the reporter added.
After excelling at Flamengo , Pablo Marí was sold to Arsenal in England in 2020 for 14 million euros. The defender also spent time on loan at Udinese and Monza , before being acquired permanently by the Italian club in 2023.
Thanks to the maintenance of 40% of the economic rights at the time of the transfer, Flamengo made a profit of around R$14.6 million from the negotiation and still has to receive a portion of 680 thousand euros (approximately R$4.35 million), an amount that should be paid soon.
In early 2025 , Pablo Marí transferred to Fiorentina, responding to a request from coach Raffaele Palladino , who had previously worked with him at Monza. With a contract until June 2026, the defender is a key player in the Italian club's defense, making an immediate release difficult.
With the arrival of coach Vojvoda, the Santos team is looking for reinforcements and is targeting players from Mengão, who are also targeting the European market.

Santos has begun talks to sign Victor Hugo, a midfielder who came through Flamengo's ranks and is currently out of position with coach Filipe Luís. Santos' director of football, Alexandre Mattos, contacted José Boto , an executive at the Rio de Janeiro club, to try to facilitate the negotiation.
Santos' proposal includes a loan, but the deal is considered complicated, especially due to competition from Famalicão, a Portuguese club. While the Brazilian transfer window closes on September 2, European clubs can register reinforcements until September 15 , increasing the Portuguese team's chances of closing the deal.
A product of Ninho do Urubu, Victor Hugo made his professional debut in 2022 and has made over 100 appearances for the Mais Querido. In 2023, he reached his peak under Jorge Sampaoli , starting several matches.
At that time, Wolverhampton, from England, presented a proposal of approximately 20 million euros (around R$ 107 million) , but the board and the athlete's staff decided that it was not the right time for him to leave.
After Sampaoli's departure, Victor Hugo lost his place in the squad and ended up being loaned to Goztepe in Turkey. He returned to Mengão in July of this year, during which time Famalicão negotiated his signing.
Initially, Flamengo agreed to release the player without a fee, retaining 50% of his economic rights. However, the negative repercussions forced the board to back down, demanding financial compensation or a loan with advantageous terms. This impasse has stalled negotiations and could still influence negotiations with Santos .
