STF will judge Brazilian champion of 87, disputed between Flamengo and Sport

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) will begin the trial this month to determine who is the true Brazilian football champion of 1987 and who owns the Bolinhas Cup. By decision of Minister Dias Toffoli, the title is recognized as belonging to Sport, while the trophy is awarded to São Paulo, but Flamengo disputes both.
The trial will take place virtually by the 2nd Panel, of 10 on May 17, with ministers Toffoli, Gilmar Mendes, Edson Fachin, Nunes Marques and André Mendonça voting. Regardless of the decision, it is likely that there will be an appeal, which would take the case to the plenary.
In December, Toffoli determined that the process had already been completely analyzed by the Federal Court of Pernambuco, which "declared in a undisputed Sport Clube Recife as the only and legitimate champion of the 1987 Brazilian football tournament".
At the time of the tournament, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) was facing a financial crisis, leading the main teams to create their own competition, the Copa União, organized by the Clube dos 13. Flamengo won this competition , while Sport won the tournament organized by the CBF also in 1987.
Another controversy in the case is related to the Taça das Bolinhas, a trophy created by Caixa to reward the first club to win the Brazilian Championship three times in a row or the won five times. If Flamengo is considered the 1987 champion, it will be the first five-time Brazilian champion. However, as the achievement is still considered Sport's, the milestone of having won the championship five times for the first time belongs to São Paulo.

Ticket sales for the first leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores quarter-finals, between Flamengo and opponent still to come to be defined, starts this Monday (9), at 10am. The game will be held on September 19th, at 7pm, at Maracanã. Nação fan members will have priority to purchase through the official website (flamengo.superingresso.com.br).
For the match, all fans who buy tickets online, in any sector of the stadium, will need to use registered facial biometrics to access Maracanã. No other means of access will be permitted for tickets purchased digitally. In addition, fans must have their original documents with photo upon entry.
Access to the stadium's security perimeter will be controlled by a dynamic QR code generated by the application Fla Tickets. Access to the interior of Maracanã will be done through facial biometrics.
