O Flamengo will not be able to count on midfielders Gerson and Nico de la Cruz in the duel against Criciúma, scheduled for next Wednesday (4), at the Heriberto Hülse Stadium, in the penultimate round of the Brazilian Championship. Both players were warned with a third yellow card during Mais Querido's victory over Internacional, last Sunday (1), and are suspended for the next match.
Nico de la Cruz received his card in the 42nd minute of the first half, in a move that generated controversy. The Uruguayan disarmed Alan Patrick with a tackle that touched the ball, but referee Rodrigo de Lima considered the movement excessively aggressive. The judge's decision was widely contested by the player and the red and black technical committee.
CONTROMIC IN GERSON'S PUNISHMENT
Gerson's case also raised debates. Mengão's number 8 was punished for protesting against a move involving referee Rodrigo de Lima and Internacional player Plata. During the play, Plata collided with the referee, who chose not to stop the match, resulting in a goal for the opponent. Gerson led the protests, but the referee upheld the decision and even issued a yellow card to the red-and-black captain.
Although the rules determine that the game should only be interrupted if the ball reaches the referee and changes possession, the players asked for common sense in the situation. The decision, however, was not reversed, and Internacional's goal was validated.

Flamengo received important news this Monday (4). Midfielder Arrascaeta underwent tests at the club's training center, Ninho do Urubu, which ruled out any muscle injury in the thigh. Thus, the number 10 is fit to reinforce the team in the return match against Atlético-MG , in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
The Uruguayan was substituted at halftime of the match against Ceará last weekend after complaining of muscle discomfort. The decision to withdraw him was made by coach Filipe Luís as a preventative measure , avoiding the worsening of a possible clinical condition.
The player's departure at half-time caused apprehension among fans, who feared the absence of the team's main playmaker in a decisive match. Officially presented this Monday with the number 15 shirt, Jorge Carrascal arrived at Flamengo with the mission of strengthening the creative sector, occupying a role in which Arrascaeta has been a reference since 2019. Although he has not yet debuted with the Manto Sagrado, the Colombian midfielder stated that playing for the Rio de Janeiro club represents an important milestone in his professional career.
"The truth is, I came to Flamengo with a purpose: to work, compete, and achieve the best for the club. The short-term goal is to play and earn matches. I'll work hard, focus on the clear objective, and the lineup will depend on the coach," the player declared.
During the interview, Carrascal made a point of praising the club's structure and the Mais Querido's representation in the South American scene. According to him, the decision to wear the red-and-black jersey was made with conviction.

"As everyone knows, Flamengo is a very big team. A South American team that means a lot. It's a dream for me to play in Brazil, so I believe I made the best decision for my career," added the athlete, who had been playing for Dynamo Moscow before the transfer.
