In a press conference in the United States, Argentine coach Mascherano, from Inter Miami, praised the technical quality of Brazilian clubs. In the coach's view, teams like Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense are going through a great phase and deserve respect . However, Mascherano gave greater emphasis to the green and white team, their opponent in Group A of the Club World Cup.
WHAT DID THE ARGENTINE COACH SAY?
Mascherano on South American teams- It's not surprising, the competition in South America is very strong and this is demonstrated in this type of tournament
"We know that they are the strongest in South America because they have the possibility to invest much more money than other countries in South America. We clearly follow Palmeiras more, which has a great team, has players who have been playing together for a long time, has won local titles, such as the Libertadores, and is competing at the highest level. But we also have Flamengo , Fluminense," said Mascherano.
The Argentine was then asked if he was surprised by the performance of the South American teams in the World Cup, since none of them have lost to European teams so far. Mascherano revealed that he had already expected this level of performance from the Conmebol clubs.
"It's not surprising, the competition in South America is very strong and that's demonstrated in this type of tournament. Football is sometimes defined by details, by circumstances, but the South American teams will be up to the task, I have no doubt," he added.
"We have to see how the next games will be, it has just started. We have to be fair to the European teams. Most of them have finished the season, they have given some players a break. Others were on FIFA duty with their national teams," he concluded.
Mascherano's Inter Miami beat Porto 2-1 in this round and now only depends on itself to advance to the next phase of the Club World Cup. Lionel Messi's team is in the same group as Palmeiras and will face each other in the third and final round of the group stage.

With the FIFA International Day off over, Flamengo is finalizing the details for the resumption of the Brasileirão. And one of the team's key players, Arrascaeta, continues to rack up impressive numbers. Since 2019, the number 10 has been the player who needs the least amount of time on the pitch to score a goal in the national competition.
According to a survey by Sofascore , the Uruguayan averages a goal or assist every 99 minutes . In total, he played 151 Brasileirão matches during this period, with 109 direct goal contributions , a performance that puts him at the top of the list, ahead of big names like Gabigol, Pedro, and Luis Suárez.
Among the highlights, Luis Suárez also stands out, reaching second place on the list despite having played only 33 games in the Brasileirão , during his time at Grêmio, where he played for just one season, in 2023.
The number 10 is enjoying one of his best years for the red and black. So far, he has 17 goals and 13 assists, numbers that are close to his most productive season , in 2019, when he scored 18 times and provided 19 decisive passes.
With Arrascaeta available, Flamengo takes to the field next Sunday (14) against Juventude, for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship . The duel will be played at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium, in Caxias do Sul.
The former striker is an idol for both teams and was asked who he would support in a potential clash between Mengão and the Italians.

An idol on and off the field, Adriano Imperador never hid his passion for Flamengo, the club he's loved since childhood. Even so, the former striker built a remarkable career at Inter Milan (ITA), where he gained international fame and earned the nickname "Emperor."
In an interview released by “Romário TV” last Thursday (11), Adriano once again highlighted his connection with Mengão. When asked by Romário who he would support in a match between Flamengo and Inter, the former player did not hesitate: “ Flamengo, always. No chance of another fan base .”
Adriano recently hosted a farewell match at the Maracanã stadium, bringing together former teammates from Flamengo and Inter . He played for each team for a period of time, in a celebration marked by emotion and the affection of the fans.
Despite his declared support for Flamengo, Adriano is deeply grateful to Inter. It was at the Italian club that he established himself as a global star , winning titles and notoriety, as well as earning the nickname that defined his football career.
A product of his youth development at Gávea, the striker has always maintained close ties with the red-and-black fans. His most memorable stint came in 2009, when he returned to the club and played a key role in the Brasileirão title , finishing the competition as the top scorer and idol of the nation.
With Adriano Imperador in the crowd, Flamengo returns to the field this Sunday (14), against Juventude, for the 23rd round of the Brasileirão . The match will be played at 4 pm (Brasília time), at the Alfredo Jaconi Stadium, in Caxias do Sul, with broadcast on Amazon Prime Video.

Vasco eliminated Botafogo on penalties and secured a place in the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil last Thursday (11). But, in addition to qualifying, the one who caught attention was Matheus França, ex-Flamengo , who converted his penalty and went viral with an unexpected reaction.
After scoring, the 21-year-old midfielder began kissing Vasco's crest . However, he stopped mid-motion, as if remembering his roots. On social media, Vasco fans were unforgiving, joking that "the Gávea native's reflexes spoke louder ."
ARRIVAL AT VASCO
Matheus França recently arrived at Vasco da Gama after being traded by Flamengo to Crystal Palace (ENG). During his presentation, he avoided naming the team that introduced him: " Everyone knows my trajectory, my beginnings at the rival club , but the most important thing is to focus here at Vasco."
Revealed at Ninho do Urubu, França emerged as one of the brightest prospects in the club's youth academy . He didn't play a regular season as a professional, but he was part of the squad that won the Libertadores and Copa do Brasil in 2022.
The reunion could happen soon. This is because Flamengo and Vasco face each other in the 24th round of the Brasileirão, on September 21 , at 5:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã. But before that, Mais Querido faces Juventude this Sunday (14), at 4 pm, in the Brazilian Championship.
