Flamengo's board of directors has already been informed about the formal interest of two foreign clubs in Gerson . Zenit, from Russia, took the lead in the negotiations and reached a preliminary agreement with the player's staff, offering a contract with a salary three times higher than the current one at Rubro-Negro.
Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr also entered the fray. The Saudi club's main asset is Jorge Jesus, who is close to being announced as the new coach. The Portuguese coach made a direct request to the board for Gerson, with whom he had an excellent relationship at Flamengo between 2019 and 2020.
Both clubs have signaled that they are willing to pay the midfielder's release clause: 25 million euros (approximately R$160 million at the current exchange rate). The Brazilian Football Confederation ( CBF ) presented, this Wednesday (1), the official national football calendar for the 2026 season. Among the main changes are the reduction in the number of games in state tournaments, significant changes in the format of the Copa do Brasil and the anticipation of the start of the Brazilian Championship.
The measure aims to offer better competition conditions to clubs , including giants such as Flamengo, Palmeiras and Corinthians , which suffer from the excess of matches in the current Brazilian football calendar.
One of the most significant changes was the reduction from 16 to 11 dates for state championships. The new format calls for tournaments to be held between January 11th and March 8th , freeing up space in the calendar for other competitions and reducing the workload on athletes.
The Brazilian Serie A Championship will be brought forward to January 28th and is scheduled to end on December 2nd. The new development is that the initial rounds of the competition will run concurrently with the state championships, requiring extra attention from clubs competing in both competitions simultaneously.
The Copa do Brasil has also undergone changes. The first five rounds will be played as single matches, while the round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals will be home-and-away matches. The grand final will be a single match, at a neutral venue, on December 6th. The competition begins on February 18th, and Serie A clubs will only enter in the fifth round, guaranteeing one to three fewer matches for the top-tier teams.

The red-and-black team arrives on a high after winning the Taça Brasil in Londrina, aiming for its 20th state title. Despite the positive momentum, the coaching staff and athletes emphasize that there are still adjustments to be made to reach the desired level.
Libero and captain Laís celebrated the group's progress, but reinforced the need for focus at each stage of the tournament. "I'm very happy with our team's energy and dedication to each challenge.
