The Flamengo market is busy . After signing Michael and forwarding the sales of Wesley and Fabrício Bruno to European football, another player could leave Rubro-Negro for the Old Continent: Arrascaeta. According to Turkish newspaper A Spor, Galatasaray wants the Uruguayan to compete for position with Belgian Dries Mertens. The Turkish club has already drawn up a plan for this.
The idea is to convince Arrascaeta to move to Europe through goalkeeper Fernando Muslera and midfielder Lucas Torreira, who play for Galatasaray and play with Arrasca in the Uruguay national team. Flamengo's current number 14 has not yet played in European football and is already 30 years old. In other words, it could be the midfielder's last chance to play in the old continent in his career.
The portal's report also states that Galatasaray is evaluating an investment in Arrascaeta for 15 million euros, something close to R$90 million. The termination fine outside Brazil provided for in the contract is 50 million euros (almost R$268 million). The good news for the red and black is that Rodolfo Landim has already made it clear that he will not sell the player until the end of his term: the end of 2024.
Arrascaeta's contractual situation with Flamengo
Arrascaeta's current commitment to Flamengo ends in 2026. Previously, the contract that ended at the end of 2023 was renewed just a year earlier, after months of negotiations. Therefore, Mais Querido's board expects that a new round of negotiations to increase the commitment beyond 2026 will also take time.
