The debate about the use of the player Gonzalo Plata, if he is hired by Flamengo, has been generating questions about his adaptation to different positions on the field. A recurring criticism points to the athlete's lack of experience playing on the left wing, an area where he does not have enough running to perform at a high level.

Plata is a player who stood out in European football, preferably playing on the wing. right, where his ball handling ability and speed dribbling are more effective. However, placing the Ecuadorian to act on the left could harm both individual and collective performance. The criticism is clear: Plata does not feel comfortable in this position, and this directly impacts the functioning of the team.

A POSSIBLE "HEADACHE"

The left winger demands specific skills from a player that Plata, to date, has not fully demonstrated. Playing "crooked", that is, outside of his usual position, not only limits his capabilities but also affects the natural flow of plays. This is because he will have to adapt his playing style to fit a role he is not used to playing.

Another relevant point is the athlete's lack of repertoire in the position. Plata does not have five professional games playing as a left winger, which highlights his inexperience for the role. This lack of games in this area compromises your ability to make quick and effective decisions during games, which can result in lower-than-expected performance.

In a match played on Thursday night (26), Flamengo drew 0-0 with Peñarol at the Campeón del Siglo Stadium, in Uruguay, for the return of the Libertadores quarter-finals. The result ended Rubro-Negro's participation in the continental tournament, leaving the club out of the title race. With the elimination, the team now turns its attention to national competitions, including the Brazilian Championship and the Copa do Brasil.
TITE EXPLAINS DECISION ON GABIGOL

After the draw, coach Tite talked about the choice not to start the match with Gabigol among the starters. The attacker, who came on in the second half, only had one clear shot, but had little influence on the game, something that has been recurring since the coach took charge.

"Any observation made now may seem simple. If we don't put Gabi in, it's because we don't put him in. If we put him in, it's because we put him in. After the game, everything is easy to criticize. We wanted a player in the area, and this was reflected in an important chance. Unfortunately, we were unable to convert it into a goal", declared Tite.

NEXT CHALLENGES IN THE BRASILEIRÃO AND BRAZILIAN CUP< With the result, the Mengão says goodbye to the Libertadores and directs his focus to national disputes. The team's next commitment will be for the Brazilian Championship, when they will face Athletico-PR on Sunday (29), at 8 pm, at Maracanã, for the 28th round of the competition. Furthermore, the club remains alive in the Copa do Brasil, with the mission of seeking titles in 2024.

The Grêmio enters the field with a solid formation and pieces that have already proven their value throughout the season. However, Flamengo is a strong opponent and, even in moments of fluctuation, maintains a high level of competitiveness. Grêmio's biggest challenge will be to be able to hold back Flamengo's attack, while at the same time finding ways to break through the opponent's defense.

The presence of players like Braithwaite and Soteldo can be decisive, especially in individual plays and balls stops. Flamengo usually suffer in moments when their lines are broken, and that is exactly where Grêmio must concentrate their forces. Cristaldo's presence as the main articulator in midfield will also be crucial to ensuring that the ball reaches the attack with quality.

SEE GRÊMIO'S PROBABLE LINEUP:
Marchesín; João Pedro, Gustavo Martins, Kannemann and Reinaldo; Villasanti, Dodi; Cristaldo, Monsalve and Soteldo; Braithwaite.

Grêmio is ready for the clash against Flamengo, even with the absence of their coach on the sidelines of the field. The lineup defined by Renato Gaúcho demonstrates confidence in the athletes and a clear strategy for the game. The challenge is great, but Grêmio counts on a combination of experience and youth to seek a positive result. The expectation is for a disputed game, where every detail can make a difference.
