Flamengo is preparing to face Santos next Wednesday (01), at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, in Brasília, in a game valid for the 31st round of the Brazilian Championship. The red and black fans are looking forward to the clash and have already sold out tickets in five sectors of the stadium, demonstrating their unconditional support for the team. Currently, only the Superior East and Superior West sectors have tickets available.

The change in the location of the match between Flamengo and Santos is due to the stoppage of the Maracanã Stadium, which is being used by Conmebol for the Libertadores final scheduled for the day November 4th. Faced with this situation, Flamengo's board made the decision to play against Santos in another stadium, opting for Mané Garrincha. However, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) had to postpone Flamengo's game against Red Bull Bragantino.

The reason for the postponement was Flamengo's refusal to play against the São Paulo team outside Maracanã , which is considered the "Sacred Temple" by red and black fans. Therefore, the match that was originally scheduled for October 29th was rescheduled for November 23rd, when Maracanã will be available for the Rio club. With this, Flamengo's next challenge will be against Santos, at Mané Garrincha, in Brasília, on Wednesday (01), starting at 8pm (Brasília time).

Flamengo fans are excited for the match and sold out tickets in five sectors of the stadium, reflecting the unconditional support that the fans offer the team. This mobilization of the fans is a demonstration of the Flamengo fans' passion and commitment to the team, even in the face of a season that has not lived up to expectations. Flamengo entered 2023 with high expectations, but so far it has had a frustrating performance in several competitions.

Throughout the year, Flamengo was runner-up to Carioca, the Copa do Brasil, the Supercopa do Brazil and the Recopa Sul-Americana. Furthermore, in the Club World Cup, the team was eliminated in the semi-final, and in Conmebol Libertadores, it fell prematurely in the round of 16. The last hope for the season is the Brazilian Championship, however, Flamengo are currently in fifth place, nine points behind leaders Botafogo, who still have a game in hand and could open up a 12-point lead if they beat Cuiabá on Sunday. .

Rafinha Alcântara, currently without a club since ending his contract with Al-Arabi, from Qatar, in July, made it clear that he has a great connection with Flamengo, even though he has never played in Brazilian football. In an interview with the program Que Partidazo, in 2019, the midfielder, who built his career internationally, revealed that he was a long-time fan of Mais Querido.

During the interview, the 31-year-old player, son of four-time champion Mazinho, recalled his career in European football, where he played for big clubs, such as Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. But what caught the attention of Mengão fans was his confession that he dreams of one day wearing the CRF shirt.

“I do think about playing for Flamengo. Everyone knows that I'm a big fan and supporter of the club. I followed and was very happy with the Brasileirão and Libertadores titles. It’s a dream to wear the Flamengo shirt”, said Rafinha Alcântara, generating euphoria among the red and black fans.

NEGOTIATIONS WITH FLAMENGO

After his public statement, Flamengo's board of directors even investigated the situation of the player, who at the time was still linked to European football and had no intention of returning to Brazil. Now, without a club and free on the market, Rafinha can arrive at the Rio club without transfer costs, but Mengão's directors do not seem to have the athlete as a priority at the moment.

Still, there is speculation that Rafinha Alcântara could be made official at Gávea for the 2025 season, depending on changes in the squad and technical committee, which is currently led by Tite.

TRAJECTORY OF RAFINHA IN EUROPEAN FOOTBALL

Rafinha Alcântara began his career in Barcelona's youth teams, where he played until being promoted to the professional squad. Over the years, he has spent time at clubs such as Celta de Vigo, Inter Milan, Real Sociedad, as well as Paris Saint-Germain, where he played alongside Neymar. His last club was Al-Arabi, in Qatar, where he played 40 matches, scored nine goals and provided 10 assists.
