The auction of the Gasologista, in Rio de Janeiro, where the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo planned to build its new stadium, was suspended by judge Marcelo Barbi Gonçalves, of the 7th Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro. The decision was taken due to the lack of prior authorization from the President of the Republic for the expropriation of assets belonging to a federal public company.
Judge Marcelo Barbi Gonçalves argued that the municipality of Rio de Janeiro cannot expropriate properties of federal public companies without express authorization from the President of the Republic, even if these assets are not used directly in the provision of public services. This decision prevents the auction from being held, which was in Flamengo's plans to enable the construction of its own stadium.
The suspension of the auction represents a significant setback for the Flamengo. The club has been looking for alternatives for its own stadium, aiming to increase its revenue and offer a better experience to its fans. The acquisition of the Gasometer land was seen as a strategic opportunity to carry out this project.
With the court decision, the future of the gasometer stadium project Flamengo remains uncertain. The club will have to look for new alternatives or wait for possible presidential authorization to expropriate the land.
