Judge Marcelo Barbi Gonçalves argued that the municipality of Rio de Janeiro cannot expropriate properties of federal public companies without express authorization from the President of the Republic, even if these assets are not used directly in the provision of public services. This decision prevents the auction from being held, which was in Flamengo's plans to enable the construction of its own stadium.
A TOTALLY DIFFERENT CHOICE
The suspension of the auction represents a significant setback for the Flamengo. The club has been looking for alternatives for its own stadium, aiming to increase its revenue and offer a better experience to its fans. After progressing in negotiations with Al Nassr , former Flamengo coach Jorge Jesus was announced as the Saudi team's new manager. Jesus will now coach Cristiano Ronaldo, under contract until the end of 2026.
