A video of Wesley at a party after the defeat suffered by Flamengo against Botafogo in the Brazilian Championship has been circulating on social media since last Monday (19). Several fans criticized the red-and-black full-back for being in a party after the hard defeat, others tried to attribute the moment to being something old. Now, the player himself tried to put an end to the discussion.

Wesley stated that the party was a farewell with his friends before his trip to Italy, where he would introduce himself to Atalanta who had negotiations advanced with the 21-year-old. The player would then travel to Florianópolis this Tuesday (20) to say goodbye to his family.

“Referring to the video: Monday would be my farewell and I would go to Florianópolis to say goodbye to my mother and then go to Italy. So, I went to the party to say goodbye with my friends. So, stop saying things you don't know”, wrote Wesley in an Instagram post.

The situation, however, changed this Tuesday. Atalanta completed the signing of Raoul Bellanova, from Torino, and with that gave up the negotiation for Gávea's number 43 shirt. Flamengo and Atalanta had a disagreement regarding the date on which Wesley should report to the Italian club.

The Bergamo team put in a contract that the full-back had to be in Italy on August 23rd. The red-and-black asked for a longer period, releasing the athlete on the 26th, but coach Gian Piero Gasperini's team believed that, if Wesley did not pass the medical exams, there would be little time to make another signing.

Flamengo's football director, Bruno Spindel commented on the negotiations at the CBF headquarters after the draw for the Copa do Brasil. Spindel raised his tone and said that Flamengo players only leave the club with a signed contract.

On Friday afternoon (23), Flamengo officially presented Michael at a press conference at Ninho do Urubu. After the attacker's presentation, Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel explained to journalists Atalanta's negotiation for Wesley. The vice-president of red-black football highlighted that the club did not lose the negotiation for the sale of the athlete.

"Flamengo did not lose this negotiation. Now I'm going to talk about the sporting match. I'm going to talk about the player. He was criticized so much in relation to Atalanta comes, a team from England comes, a team from France comes and everyone sees Wesley as a good player, the only people who don't think so are the people here in relation to Brazil. The professionals there want the player, and the amateurs here. no? 16 million euros (R$96 million) for 90% of Wesley's economic rights. The deal would be around 20 million euros with targets to be achieved (R$ 120 million).

With the cancellation of his transfer to Europe, Wesley seemed quite dissatisfied, as everything was arranged for the full-back to say goodbye to Mais Querido. Now, the young man is waiting for a new proposal from other clubs to try to play in European football.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT COMMITMENT

Without transferring to European football, Wesley ended up getting injured and will be out of Flamengo's next game. Mais Querido returns to the field next Sunday (25th), at 8pm, at Maracanã.
