On the afternoon of this Friday (6), defender Léo Pereira gave a quick interview for the FlaTv report. According to the defender, interim coach Mário Jorge managed to correct some aspects that were harming Rubro Negro when it was still led by coach Jorge Sampaoli. He also said that he believes the team will arrive prepared for the clash against Corinthians.
”It was a week of a lot of work, a lot of commitment, where we managed to adjust some things that were hurting us in other matches. I believe that Mário Jorge managed to make some points very clear that we needed to improve. Therefore, we arrived very prepared for this game against Corinthians, which in the first round I was very happy with at the end (Pereira scored with a header)”, said Léo.
Léo also said that the squad is paying attention to latest events in the São Paulo team, which was eliminated from the South American Championship by Fortaleza. He says that the team has its feet on the ground and will play an imposing game and that everyone hopes to leave Itaquera with three points.
”We are going with the same commitment (from the victory of the first round ), same dedication and, God willing, seek these three points. We know that they are coming from a negative result (elimination in the South American Championship), so, playing at home, they should come forward. But we have our feet on the ground and we will play our game, which is a game of imposition all the time. We expect that, we expect the three points and impose ourselves”, he concluded.
Corinthians and Flamengo face each other this Saturday (7), at 9pm, at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo. The match will be valid for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship and Rubro Negro needs to win to be able to enter the fight for the competition title once and for all.
