Palmeiras and Flamengo held the first classic between the teams this past Sunday afternoon (21). The teams were only tied after a very disputed match. After the match, coach Abel Ferreira went back on his statement comparing the teams' budgets.

"In the last press conference I spoke and some didn't understand what I said. Flamengo has money, yes, but I spoke about the level of signings he has. We didn't want to hit the wall and we tried from the wings. See how many goals were from individual play, from crosses", said Abel, before continuing:

" Flamengo defends very well with two blocks of four and two in front, and closes the corridors well. And we have to use the players on the outside, getting inside is difficult. The opponent didn't have the same momentum as us. There are several ways to defend and attack. One of the crosses scored, two of them the goalkeeper did well", he concluded, in a press conference this Sunday (21).

REMEMBER THE CONTROVERSY

After losing to Internacional, Abel Ferreira stated that Mais Querido has more money than Plameiras to buy ready-made players. The coach even mentioned Tite. Furthermore, he also says that Flamengo can also count on the base.

FOCUS ON LIBERTADORES

After the third round of the Brasileirão, the Flamengo shifts focus to Libertadores. Next Wednesday (24), Rubro-Negro will go to La Paz, in Bolivia, where they will face Bolívar at an altitude of more than 3,600 meters. The Most Wanted will have to win or draw if they want to take the lead in the competition.

Speculated as a possible reinforcement of Flamengo to fill the gap left by Pedro, striker Anthony Martial is free on the market, but has not played since December 9, 2023. On that occasion, Manchester United, his former club, entered the field to face Bournemouth and lost 3-0 in the Premier League. Martial was a starter and played for 56 minutes.

At the beginning of the year, the French striker suffered a groin injury that required surgery. Therefore, he was away for around 42 days, only returning in March. Even though there were three months left on his contract, Manchester United chose to let go of the player. Since then, Martial has been evaluating his next club and Flamengo is paying attention to his movements.

Just like Flamengo, Anthony Martial suffered from injuries in 2023/24. The star had several physical problems that kept him away from the field for a total of 60 days. Due to muscle pain, the player was not available for United in 12 matches last season.

Status of the deal between Flamengo and Anthony Martial

If the If Flamengo is really interested in the Frenchman, they will have to race against time and agree on the signing by Monday (9). Registration for free players is closing. According to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who works at the Gianluca Dimarzio portal, the deal could come to fruition soon.

Offered to Flamengo by his staff, Martial also had a drop in his personal numbers. In the 2022/23 season, the player scored six goals and provided two assists in the Premier League. In 2023/24, it was just one goal and no pass that resulted in the ball in the opponents' net.

In the search “Pulso do Torcedor ” carried out by Atlas Intel, coach Tite, from Flamengo, as the second best coach among the clubs in Series A of the Brazilian Championship. Only Abel Ferreira, from Palmeiras, was ahead of the red and black team in the survey carried out by the analysis institute.

The responses pointed to the current two-time Brazilian champion Abel Ferreira as the favorite by 27.9%. Tite, from Flamengo, came in second place, cited by 18.6% of those interviewed. The top 3 still has Juan Pablo Vojvoda, who has been at Fortaleza for three years and in second place in the Brasileirão, with 9.1%. Completing the top-5 are Botafogo coach Artur Jorge, mentioned by 8.1%, and Fernando Seabra, from Cruzeiro, with 7.2%.

Tite was mentioned by 47.5% of fans of Flamengo as the best coach in Brazil - a much lower percentage than the Cruzeirenses' preference for Fernando Seabra (72.6% of Raposa fans voted for him) or Grêmio idol Renato Gaúcho, who was chosen by more than half of the fans from Grêmio (51.1%). The coach with the greatest approval from fans is Argentine Vojvoda, from Fortaleza, chosen by 96.3% of Leão do Pici fans.

The Atlas survey collects information organically during routine internet browsing - on smartphones, tablets, laptops or computers. According to the research institute, this method has two advantages: it addresses several sources of bias and deals with the possible over- or under-representation of demographic groups.
