Judoka Rafaela Silva, Olympic champion and representative of Flamengo , won her place on the Brazilian team that will compete in the 2025 Pan American and Oceania Judo Championship this Thursday (10). The selection, held in São Paulo, featured the main names in the sport in the country.
Competing in the up to 63kg category, Rafaela demonstrated a dominant performance by winning all of her fights , including the decisive fight against Ketleyn Quadros, also an Olympic medalist. The continental tournament will be held from April 25 to 27, in Santiago, Chile, and will directly impact the world ranking, influencing qualification for the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028.

After qualifying, Rafaela shared her feelings of satisfaction with the victory, but emphasized the spirit of renewal she carries. “ It is certainly very gratifying to achieve everything I have achieved with judo. But since I was very young, my old coach always said: if I win today, tomorrow is a closed chapter. So that title is in the past, my past titles do not define my future”, she highlighted. She also reinforced the importance of the inspiration she generates in children, something that keeps her motivated.
In addition to Rafaela, other representatives of Mais Querido were also in action during the qualifiers. Dani Karla, from the women's under 70kg category, had an intense fight against Luana Carvalho, which was decided after six minutes of golden score. The red-and-black athlete was defeated in extra time and ended her participation with determination and dedication.
In the men's competition , Marcelo Gomes won his first fight against Guilherme Morais, from Sesi, but was defeated in the following two matches by Giovani Ferreira, who secured a spot on the national team. The athletes' participation reinforces the Rio de Janeiro club's presence among the main centers for training judokas in the country.

Former player and idol of Flamengo basketball Olivinha announced this Tuesday (09) that he will not continue on Flamengo TV. Since October 2024, he worked as a commentator on the club's official channel , but confirmed the end of the contract through social media.
