Everton's official statement published on Monday set the tone for what is going on behind the scenes: the Premier League club has publicly signaled its interest in keeping Carlos Alcaraz, who belongs to Flamengo and is on loan until the end of the 2024/25 season. In the statement, Everton reported that players Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom, Orel Mangala and Armando Broja are leaving at the end of their respective contracts, but highlighted that talks with Alcaraz are still ongoing.
The English club even mentioned that the Argentine arrived on loan from Flamengo in February of this year. The midfielder's permanence became a real possibility after the player met a clause stipulated in his contract: playing for at least 45 minutes in eight matches for Everton. The objective was achieved this Sunday (25), against Newcastle, in the Premier League.
With the goal achieved, Everton is now obliged to purchase the player for around 18 million euros, equivalent to R$115 million at the current exchange rate. The amount is very close to what Flamengo paid Southampton to sign the player in the second half of 2024. Internally, Flamengo's board sees this negotiation as a chance to minimize the damage of an operation considered hasty. Alcaraz arrived at the club with the approval of the former management, but had little space and a discreet stint at Gávea.
For Flamengo , the Argentine entered the field 20 times, scored four goals and provided two assists. The appearance may not be its usual green, but what we evaluate are the technical aspects, not the aesthetic ones," she explained.
Milena also emphasized that the use of sports dye is a safe alternative and widely used in national and international competitions, if necessary: " The technical quality remains unchanged. In October, we will have a favorable window to intensify maintenance and fully restore the lawn's green color," she added.
After the 0-0 draw with Cruzeiro, Filipe Luís and Saúl were questioned about the pitch conditions in Salvador . The red-and-black coach adopted a calm tone, stating that any irregularities will affect both teams equally.

A potential scandal involving the Copa Libertadores quarterfinal match between Flamengo and Estudiantes (ARG) in La Plata has gained prominence in the Argentine press. The NGO "Sport Without Drugs," represented by Aldo Sérgio Parodi, filed a formal complaint of "collective doping" regarding the match, alleging that no post-match drug tests were conducted.

Aldo Parodi filed the complaint with federal prosecutor Ana María Russo of La Plata, based on Law No. 26,912, which regulates anti-doping control in Argentine sports.
