Diego Ribas, former captain of Flamengo, praised midfielder Gerson, highlighting his qualities as leader of the Rio team. In a recent post on Instagram, the former player highlighted the reasons why he believes Gerson is the ideal candidate for the captain's armband.
Diego Ribas began his message by highlighting the experience accumulated by Gerson. "Firstly, experience. Gerson, aged 27, has already experienced a lot at Flamengo and abroad, including the Brazilian national team. He has worked with experienced coaches and players with a leadership profile. He has always shown humility to learn and develop, which prepares him well for this moment as captain", said Ribas.
Another point highlighted by Ribas was Gerson’s attitude. "What catches my attention about Gerson is his attitude. Regardless of the circumstances, he maintains a positive attitude. He doesn't despair about good times or difficult times. I remember 2020, when we were in a complicated situation. We held meetings and I asked him to speak.
