The clash this Wednesday (10), in the second round of group E of the Libertadores, between Flamengo and Palestino (CHI) leaves the history of the Chilean club with a name beyond curious in the spotlight of Brazilian fans. Therefore, GLOBO details the relationship between the South American team and the territory of Palestine, which dates back to the team's origins, more than 100 years ago.
Founded by immigrants from the Middle Eastern territory who went to Chile, Desportivo Palestino was created in 1920 with the aim of keeping the memory of the people themselves alive. The people born in Arab territory went to the South American country due to the climatic similarities between the two.
The club's relationship with Palestine is not limited to just nominal similarity. The relationship between the team and the Middle Eastern territory is present externally and internally. Two-time champion of the Chilean Championship, Desportivo Palestino is seen as a "national team" by its people, even without having local players in its squad.
The importance of the Chilean club for the population of the region can be seen from within the territory of the Middle East. The West Bank wall, which separates Palestine from Israel, has a team shield with the flag of the South American country linked to the territory painted on it.

In a press conference at Ninho do Urubu, goalkeeper Agustín Rossi spoke about his desire to be called up to the Argentina national team , the current world champion. Despite his dream, the goalkeeper made it clear that his priority remains Flamengo.

"I'm in no rush, because my job is for Flamengo , day to day, game to game. My biggest focus is to maintain this streak so that the call-up can come. Of course I have that desire, but I don't treat it as a requirement . I'm Flamengo's goalkeeper, I'm responsible for Flamengo. If the call-up comes, I'll welcome it," he added.
Since joining Flamengo in 2023, Rossi has already won four titles. Last season, he was a key player in the undefeated Carioca Championship and also played in the Copa do Brasil victory. In 2025, he maintained his starting spot in the Supercopa do Brasil and the Campeonato Estadual . In total, he has represented Flamengo in 125 official matches, establishing himself as a pillar of the team.

Back in Brazilian football, Neymar still divides opinions about his future at Santos . During a debate on ESPN Brasil, former player Zinho compared the Santos number 10 to Flamengo's Arrascaeta , which sparked disagreement from Zé Elias. The former Mengão player stated that the Uruguayan wouldn't be able to perform at the São Paulo club.

The match, valid for the round of 16 of the Women's Brazil Cup , will be played in a single game.
