Flamengowants to build its own stadium in the Gasometer area by 2029. However, the project has not yet left the role, but there are many proposals that are being debated within the club. Fabrício Chicca, architect and expert on the subject, got in touch with other professionals in the area and created ideas for Mais Querido to have a hotel next to the new house.
“What about the idea of a hotel together with a stadium? Does it fit next to the future Flamengo stadium? We did research and spoke to experts (…) For a hotel in this location to prosper, experts suggest essential criteria. One of them is moderate capacity. A hotel with around 200 rooms, avoiding the risk of oversupply in an area where demand is still uncertain”, he pointed out.
Fabricio also pointed out that prices should not be high and also highlighted the importance of Mais Querido creating actions with those who are staying at the hotel.
“Economic standard: a hotel with a more accessible profile, such as Ibis, that caters to both fans and tourists looking for competitive prices. Also integrated tourist packages: creation of options such as the “Fla-tour”, offering a complete experience with visits to the stadium, the new museum, Maracanã, Gávea and even the club's training center”, he added.
FLAMENGO BRAND CAN BE SUCCESSFUL, SAYS ARCHITECT
“With these characteristics, the hotel can have a reasonable occupancy, but it is important that there is coordination and strategic involvement to keep the business viable (…) Considering the appeal of the Flamengo brand and the potential of well-planned tourist packages, the investment can contribute positively to local tourism, representing a bet with potential for success if well done”, concluded Chicca.

Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid, MVP of the 2022/23 NBA season, once again demonstrated his affection for Flamengo . Last Thursday (21), the Cameroonian player was spotted in an official club store, in Cabo Frio (RJ) , where he made a point of purchasing several red-black products.
Although unusual, Embiid's presence in the Lakes Region has a reason. Married to Brazilian model Anne de Paula, the athlete often visits the city, where his father-in-law lives, during the holidays. This time, he took the opportunity to explore the "Nação Rubro-Negra" store and expand his Flamengo memorabilia collection.
The star's arrival took everyone by surprise and caused great excitement among the employees. Salesman Kauan said he was so nervous when he met the player that he forgot to remove the alarm from a piece of furniture, creating an unusual moment: " His father-in-law even joked with me afterward. It was an unforgettable experience ," he revealed.
Embiid didn't hold back. He brought jerseys for himself, his wife, his father-in-law, and his son , as well as accessories like shorts and thermoses. The visit even helped meet the store's sales goals. The center also obliged some fans and store owners by agreeing to take photos with them.
Embiid's connection with Flamengo isn't new. In 2023, during an interview with the NBA Freestyle program, he revealed that he started supporting Flamengo because of his wife's family: " Actually, I'm a Flamengo fan because my girlfriend's father is a fan . Since we started dating, I've been following the team," he said.
In January 2024, when Flamengo held a preseason training camp in Philadelphia, Embiid met Léo Pereira and Matheus Gonçalves . The defender even posted a photo with the star: " Nice to meet you, brother ." Thus, the relationship between Joel Embiid and Flamengo continues to grow, uniting basketball and soccer in a connection that already transcends borders.
