Right-back Arthur had a brief stint in Flamengo's youth academy. However, despite the short time, it was enough for the player to establish a connection with the Red-Blacks. Thus, upon returning to Brazil with his new club, Bayer Leverkusen, the youngster spoke about his feelings about returning to the Ninho do Urubu Training Center.
Arthur talks about returning to Flamengo's training center: "Well, it's a bit funny to be back here, I spent part of my life here."
He continued: "It helped me a lot, I grew as an athlete, as a person. It's a strange feeling, but it's a good feeling to be able to return to the principles here, where I was able to take important steps in my life ," he said in an interview with 'Lance'.
Arthur also celebrated the closeness he had with his family during his time in Brazil. The young full-back has been with Bayer Leverkusen since 2023, when he was acquired for €7 million from América-MG.
"For me, it's also very important to be able to do this pre-season here, to have my family here, to have the opportunity to welcome the club's staff here in Brazil, this is very important for me and it's definitely a boost to start this pre-season on the right foot," he concluded.
Arthur played for Flamengo at the U-17 and U-20 levels between 2020 and 2021. He only played 13 matches, and was no longer considered by the Flamengo board at the time. He was then returned to América-MG and excelled with the senior team in 2022 and 2023, catching the attention of Bayer Leverkusen.
Thus, the Garotos do Ninho will face the main team of Bayer Leverkusen in a friendly this Friday (18), at 3 pm, at Estádio da Gávea, in Rio de Janeiro. The match will serve as preparation for the German team for the next season.
Mengão hosts Leão this Saturday (9) for the Brasileirão and the game gained weight for the coach after elimination from the Copa do Brasil

After being eliminated from the Copa do Brasil , Flamengo turns its attention to the Brasileirão this Saturday (09), when it faces Mirassol at Maracanã. For journalist Renato Mauricio Prado, the clash is crucial not only for maintaining the lead, but also to calm spirits inside and outside the club .
Renato Maurício Prado on Flamengo x Mirassol: "This game against Mirassol is crucial"
According to RMP, the match is about much more than just three points. A victory would help restore the fans' confidence and ease the pressure on the board and the squad, still frustrated by the relegation from the national tournament: "This match against Mirassol is crucial for Flamengo to calm its own fans and even the club's internal atmosphere ," the commentator emphasized.
Although the Copa do Brasil wasn't a priority this season, RMP emphasizes that any elimination creates discomfort. Therefore, responding immediately on the field is essential to demonstrate that the focus remains firmly on competing for the remaining titles.
The defeat sparked sporadic criticism of Filipe Luís's work, especially given recent underwhelming performances. However, Renato Mauricio Prado assures that, internally, the coach is not at risk of being fired and considers any speculation to that effect absurd.
"Within Flamengo , I can guarantee: Filipe Luís is not at risk . And it would be absurd if he were," he stated. After facing Mirassol, Mengão turns its attention to the Libertadores, with the first game of the round of 16 against Internacional, at Maracanã, next Wednesday (13).
Mengão will face a decisive challenge and its opponent, who is not in great form, sees fans organize demonstrations in front of the arena.

On the eve of the duel against Flamengo in the round of 16 of the Libertadores , Internacional was the target of protests from its own fans this Friday (08). The dissatisfaction is a consequence of the elimination to Fluminense in the Copa do Brasil, confirmed last Wednesday (06), and the performance below expectations in the last matches.
Critical banners were hung around Beira-Rio Stadium, bearing messages such as: "Wake up, Roger," "How hungry are you?", "Libertadores is a must," and "Too much money, not enough football ." The team, led by Roger Machado, has gone four games without a win—two losses and two draws.
In the Brazilian Championship, Internacional occupies 13th place with 21 points, just six more than the first club inside the relegation zone. The next opportunity to react will be this Saturday (09), against Bragantino, in the 19th round.
Despite also being eliminated from the Copa do Brasil, Flamengo hasn't faced any recent protests. Under Filipe Luís, the team remains top of the Brasileirão , has qualified for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, and didn't prioritize the knockout tournament this season.
The first clash between Flamengo and Internacional in the round of 16 of the Libertadores will be on Wednesday (13), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã. The duel will be broadcast by Rede Globo. The return match is scheduled for the 20th, at Beira-Rio.
Mengão bought the Gasômetro land to build its new home, but President Bap does not prioritize the project.

Rumors that Flamengo intends to return the Gasômetro land to Caixa Econômica Federal and request reimbursement are unfounded . This information comes from journalist Paulo Vinícius Coelho, known as PVC, on his blog at UOL.
According to PVC, this speculation is more linked to political disputes than reality, especially after the club paid upfront for the acquisition of the stadium , located in central Rio de Janeiro. The journalist also emphasized that Flamengo is still planning to build its own stadium , but is in no rush to begin construction.
Cláudio Duarte, governor of Rio, on the stadium: "It's a matter between Flamengo and Rio City Hall"
In July 2024, the club won the Gasômetro auction, purchasing the land for R$138.1 million—the minimum required amount. Since then, the biggest challenge has been enabling the construction of its long-awaited stadium. The club is still awaiting the release of the Financial Feasibility Study commissioned by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation.
One of the main obstacles is the removal of the gas pipelines present at the site. Last week, Governor Cláudio Castro reaffirmed the Rio de Janeiro City Hall's commitment to removing the debris and, subsequently, the gas pipelines: "This is a matter between Flamengo and the Rio de Janeiro City Hall. We saw that the City Hall had committed to removing the gas pipelines ," Castro stated.
Another point on the agenda is raising funds to begin construction. According to O Globo, the club's Deliberative Council is expected to meet to discuss financing options and analyze the stadium's impact on Flamengo's finances. The study is ongoing, and the board is seeking a model that will allow the project to get off the ground without compromising Flamengo's financial health.
