The Flamengo suffered a tough defeat on Sunday night, losing 4-1 to Botafogo at Nilton Santos. It was the first victory under the command of Tite, who praised his rival in the press conference after the match, but stated that Rubro-Negro "can't concede four goals".
- Congratulations to Botafogo for the great The game he played maintained a very regular level in the first and second half, always at a high level. Football has to know how to look at the other side and recognize it, even with all the pain of defeat. Flamengo cannot lose 4-1, cannot concede four goals, we are aware of that. But at the same time it is important to consider important factors.
Asked about the choice of Victor Hugo instead of Arrascaeta a> when the Uruguayan was injured at the start of the game, even though he had Lorran in the squad, Tite preferred not to explain:
- When he gets into specific situations he is very punctual, it's not my profile. When the team loses, it loses in its context, it loses as a whole. If Victor Hugo had started well, with good results, the question would be the opposite. Our entire team didn't have it, and especially when it was in the second half that the team began to fall apart in physical terms. It was falling, falling, falling, and we looked and noticed it. And Botafogo's intensity remained because it has quality, verticality, and a team with physical structure and an extra day of recovery.
With the result in the classic, Flamengo remains with 41 points, five points behind less than the leader Botafogo, with 46. Rubro-negro now needs to turn the key to the Libertadores da América. This is because there is a decisive game at altitude against Bolívar, for a place in the quarter-finals.
In the first match, Tite's men won at Maracanã 2-0 and have an advantage of losing by up to one goal of difference to pass. As for the Brasileirão, Fla will only return to the field next Sunday, at 4pm, against Bragantino, at Maracanã.

According to a survey released by the Transfermarkt platform, Flamengo boasts four of the ten players who have lost the most market value in Brazil. The analysis takes into account each player's individual performance throughout the season and identifies the Rio de Janeiro club as the leader in the rankings.
Among the names mentioned are midfielder Nicolás De la Cruz and striker Pedro, who appear at the top of the list . Both have faced periods of instability and physical problems, determining factors in the drop in projected values.
Signed with high expectations, De la Cruz suffered from injuries and was unable to continue his strong start to his career at the club . His lack of rhythm directly impacted his market value, resulting in a drop of approximately €6 million compared to his previous value.
One of the most consistent scorers in Brazilian football in recent years, Pedro lost his place at the beginning of the season due to injuries and was even dropped from the squad following internal problems. Despite regaining prominence recently, his market value has dropped by around €2 million.
Left-back Viña also makes the rankings. Having only recovered from injury in the second half of the year, he competes for position with Alex Sandro and Ayrton Lucas, a factor that has contributed to his lack of performance. Michael , who also struggled with physical problems, became one of coach Filipe Luís's last attacking options, which explains his drop in rating.
After defending Uruguay in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, the full-back and midfielder were released and are now reporting to Mais Querido

Flamengo reported that Guillermo Varela, right-back for the Uruguayan national team, was released after Uruguay qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup . The player presented with pubalgia and will be re-evaluated by the Flamengo medical department.
According to the official statement, Dr. Fernando Sassaki, the club's doctor, maintained constant contact with the Uruguayan Football Association's medical team to monitor the athlete's situation.
In addition to Varela, midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta also returns to the squad. Despite not presenting any medical problems, the player was rested for Uruguay's second match on this FIFA World Cup . The club expressed its gratitude for the cooperation between the medical departments of both the Celeste and Rubro-Negro teams.
The break in national championships between September 1st and 10th is due to the FIFA Date , intended for the Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. There was an expectation that the elimination in the Copa do Brasil against Atlético-MG would create a longer interval between commitments, but the changes promoted by the CBF reduced the space in Mengão's schedule.
Flamengo returns to the field next Sunday (14), at 4 pm (Brasília time), against Juventude, at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium, for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. The club seeks to end a long fast in Caxias do Sul , since the last victory there occurred on October 1, 1997, when they won 1-0 after an own goal by Rodrigo Costa.
