Rodolfo Landim enjoyed the trip to London, where he went to watch the Champions League final, to meet with Allianz's top management, to discuss a partnership for the construction of Flamengo's stadium on the Gasmetro site, in Zona Port of Rio, which the club negotiates with CEF.

The initial idea is for the German insurance company to invest around R$1 billion in exchange for the stadium's naming rights for a period of approximately 25 years. Among the names suggested, one is the favorite, if the deal comes to fruition: Allianz Fla Arena.

The conversations are still at a very early stage. And the value that Flamengo put on the table is much higher than that paid by Allianz to Palmeiras and WTorre to name the Verdão stadium, Allianz Parque: for a 20-year contract (started in 2013), the insurance company pays, in amounts updated, R$27.5 million per year.

LAND SITUATION

The club is negotiating the purchase of land in the port area of Rio de Janeiro, known as Gasologista, with the intention of building its arena. The land in question has 87 thousand square meters, intended for the construction of the stadium, and an additional area of around 17 thousand square meters, which would be transformed into parking.

To make the purchase viable, Flamengo is willing to invest up to R$250 million, according to an assessment by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (FIPE). However, Caixa Econômica Federal, the current owner of the land, estimates that the real value is around R$400 million, due to the appreciation of the region.

Flamengo and Corinthians face each other next Wednesday (2), in a duel valid for the Copa do Brasil. Before the decision, the São Paulo club faced São Paulo and was beaten 3-1. The São Paulo tricolor overtook Mais Querido in the fight for a direct place in the Copa Libertadores. Corinthians, who ended the game with two players sent off, were unable to avoid the setback.

It is important to highlight that even with Alvinegro's long participation in the Copa do Brasil, the team led by Ramón, is in Brasileirão relegation zone with just 28 points won.

THE GAME

The game, played at the Mané Stadium Garrincha started in a balanced way, with few clear chances of goal in the first half. However, in the 45th minute, Calleri conceded a penalty after being brought down in the box. With the help of VAR, Fagner was expelled, and Lucas converted the penalty, opening the score for São Paulo.

At the beginning of the second half, Corinthians tried to react, but the difficulties increased after the expulsion of André Ramalho, who landed an elbow on Luciano. With two players less, the black and white team saw São Paulo increase the score in the 29th minute, with Arboleda scoring with a header.

Even with a goal from Yuri Alberto, who saved for Corinthians, the team from São Paulo sealed the victory in stoppage time, when André Silva scored the third goal. With the result, São Paulo reached 47 points, surpassing Flamengo, which now occupies fifth place with 45 points.

The Flamengo is well positioned to advance to the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil after beating Palmeiras 2-0 in the first game of the round of 16. This Wednesday (07), Flamengo will only be eliminated in normal time if they lose by three goals at Allianz Parque. The last time Flamengo suffered a defeat by this goal margin against Palmeiras was in 1979, when the São Paulo team won 4-1 at Maracanã.

In that game, held on December 9, 1979, Palmeiras opened the score, Zico tied, but Palmeiras scored three more goals and secured the victory. To eliminate Flamengo within the regulation time, Palmeiras will have to repeat a feat that hasn't happened in decades. If Flamengo loses by two goals, the place will be decided on penalties.

FLAMENGO CONTINUES WITH TABOO AGAINST PALMEIRAS

The last time Flamengo suffered a defeat by 2 to 0 for Palmeiras was in 2017, in the Brazilian Championship. Since then, in 17 matches between the two teams, Palmeiras has failed to win with a margin greater than one goal. In these clashes, Flamengo won seven times, drew eight and lost once in extra time (4-3 in last year's Super Cup).
