Wednesday (23) was full of great emotions at the Fadel Fadel Aquatic Park, in Gávea, the venue for the third day of the Maria Lenk Trophy. Representing the Red-Black Swimming team, Gabi Assis won an unprecedented gold in the 50m breaststroke, while Stephan Steverink and Guilherme Kanzler shared the podium in the 400m medley, with silver and bronze, respectively.
Gabi Assis is still determined to achieve a bold feat: winning three gold medals in the tournament. After winning the 100m breaststroke on Monday, the athlete returned to the pool to face an event that is not her specialty — the 50m breaststroke — and shone. With a time of 31.98, she won the shortest distance in the breaststroke for the first time, by just one hundredth of a second.
“I’m very happy. I had some goals in mind when Maria Lenk started and I’m managing to achieve them. It’s always great to do something for the first time.”
Now, the swimmer is heading to the last stage of her personal trilogy: the 200m breaststroke, her main event, which will be held this Thursday (24). “Tomorrow is the event that I like, that I dominate the most, I count on your support, Nation! So far, everything has gone well”, she declared.
Also on Wednesday night, Flamengo celebrated a double podium. In the 400m medley final, Stephan Steverink won the silver medal with 4:19.17, followed by Guilherme Kanzler, who clocked 4:22.10 and took the bronze.
The duo celebrated the feat with smiles and words of friendship and respect. “It’s really cool, we train on the track next to each other, we compete every day. We always say that we’re going to get on the podium together, that we’re going to win. It’s great to be here with him,” said Stephan. Kanzler, visibly moved, reinforced the importance of the partnership: “I came to Flamengo with the intention of training with Stephan, who is my idol, the best in Brazil in this event, someone who suffers with me every day. It was great.”
With Wednesday's results, Flamengo now has six medals in three days with Maria Lenk: two golds (both with Gabi), two silvers (both with Stephan) and two bronzes (one with Stephan, the other with Kanzler). The team returns to the pool this Thursday (24), in search of more results in the red-black waters of the Fadel Fadel Aquatic Park.
The Philadelphia 76ers center was at a shopping mall in Cabo Frio, in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro, and made purchases of Mengão products.

Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid, MVP of the 2022/23 NBA season, once again demonstrated his affection for Flamengo . Last Thursday (21), the Cameroonian player was spotted in an official club store, in Cabo Frio (RJ) , where he made a point of purchasing several red-black products.
Although unusual, Embiid's presence in the Lakes Region has a reason. Married to Brazilian model Anne de Paula, the athlete often visits the city, where his father-in-law lives, during the holidays. This time, he took the opportunity to explore the "Nação Rubro-Negra" store and expand his Flamengo memorabilia collection.
The star's arrival took everyone by surprise and caused great excitement among the employees. Salesman Kauan said he was so nervous when he met the player that he forgot to remove the alarm from a piece of furniture, creating an unusual moment: " His father-in-law even joked with me afterward. It was an unforgettable experience ," he revealed.
Embiid didn't hold back. He brought jerseys for himself, his wife, his father-in-law, and his son , as well as accessories like shorts and thermoses. The visit even helped meet the store's sales goals. The center also obliged some fans and store owners by agreeing to take photos with them.
Embiid's connection with Flamengo isn't new. In 2023, during an interview with the NBA Freestyle program, he revealed that he started supporting Flamengo because of his wife's family: " Actually, I'm a Flamengo fan because my girlfriend's father is a fan . Since we started dating, I've been following the team," he said.
In January 2024, when Flamengo held a preseason training camp in Philadelphia, Embiid met Léo Pereira and Matheus Gonçalves . The defender even posted a photo with the star: " Nice to meet you, brother ." Thus, the relationship between Joel Embiid and Flamengo continues to grow, uniting basketball and soccer in a connection that already transcends borders.
