Flamengo's progress in partnership with the City of Rio de Janeiro to build its new stadium in Gasólogo required the articulation of additional support from the Government of the State of Rio. The club, victorious in the Maracanã concession for the next 20 years, was requested by governor Cláudio Castro to maintain the use of the iconic stadium, even investing in his new "own house".

Cláudio Castro asked that Flamengo respect the Maracanã concession, using the stadium in a minimum number of games, even if sporadically and in rotation with Fluminense, which is also co-manager of the stadium.

According to information from the O GLOBO blog, after the expropriation of the Gasologista land, the governor must meet with the president of Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim, and has already signaled that there will be no obstacles from the state government. On the contrary, support will be facilitated.

ENVIRONMENTAL LICENSES REQUIRED

To continue with the Gasometer land project, Flamengo will need to obtain licenses state environmental issues through the State Environmental Institute (INEA). This stage is crucial for the advancement of works and depends on alignment with the state government.

NEW MARACANÃ CONCESSION

Flamengo and Fluminense won the bid to explore Maracanã for the next 20 years. Legally, Flamengo is financially responsible for the stadium, which offers guarantees to Fluminense. Even focusing its efforts on the new stadium, Flamengo must continue to manage Maracanã as a manager, through the Fla-Flu consortium.
