Flamengo won the auction for land in the Gasologista region, in Rio de Janeiro, for the construction of its new stadium. The amount paid was R$ R$ 138.1 million, which was the minimum required by the organization.

Rodolfo Landim, president of the club, Marcos Braz, vice-president of football, and Rodrigo Dunshee, vice-president -general president, were present at the ceremony, which took place in the CASS Auditorium, Centro Administrativo Municipal São Sebastião. However, the auction almost doesn't happen.

This is because, last Tuesday (30), the Rio Court suspended the auction of the Gasometer land for the construction of Flamengo's new stadium. Lawyer Vinícius Monte Custódio was the author of the suspension request, and the decision came from judge Marcelo Barbi Gonçalves, from the 7th Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro. However, the Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region decided to release competition for the area located in the Gasometer region, central area of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Dismissal of the lawyer who filed the action  governor Cláudio Castro (PL) announced that it will exonerate, in an extraordinary edition of the Diário this Thursday (01), Vinícius Monte Custódio, the lawyer who filed a class action, obtained an injunction and almost prevented it from being carried out of the auction of the land where the Flamengo stadium will be built.

Monte Custódio has been a commissioned civil servant in the legal department of the State Secretariat for the Environment for eight years and , according to the governor, adopted a stance incompatible with his position.

“He is a commissioned servant, occupies a position of trust in the state government, and cannot advocate against institutions ”, said Castro.

The project for the stadium must be presented to the city hall within 18 months after the signing of the Purchase and Sale Promise, with a period of up to 36 months, extendable, for execution. Since 2022, the former Gasometer site has become the most viable and desired alternative by the current board.
