The idol of Flamengo, former player and former coach, Evaristo de Macedo, was honored this Wednesday (3) for his services to football in Rio of January. Currently 90 years old, the red-black and Brazilian football legend thanked the gesture offered by the Superintendency of Sports of the State of Rio de Janeiro (SUDERJ) on social media.

“Age asked that it be in home and with simplicity. Moved, I thank the Governor of Rio de Janeiro, the Secretaries of the Civil House and Sports and Leisure and SUDERJ, in the person of its president Renato de Paula, for the tribute. I don't know if I did much, but I know I did my best for football”, said Evaristo de Macedo on X, formerly Twitter, this Wednesday (03).

“Today was the day to celebrate the greatness of Evaristo de Macedo, an immortal legend of Rio football who transcended borders and marked an era! His legendary journey began on the pitch of Flamengo, where he shone brightly and wrote his name in the history of national sport”, said part of SUDERJ's tribute on Instagram.

TRIBUTE FOR THE SERVICES PROVIDED

Before returning to Flamengo in 1965, Evaristo also played for Real Madrid.

Also highlighting that Evaristo had an important spell with the Brazilian team, mainly in 1957. The former striker won the Copa Roca and Atlantic Cup with Brazil.

AND FLAMENGO?

With Flamengo, Evaristo won five titles, including: four Brazilian Championships and one Cup of State Champions. Therefore, the football legend deserves to receive all the honors possible while he can.

I took everything I learned in Tokyo and used it to work during these years until I arrived in Paris, and I will definitely arrive better than I arrived in Tokyo. I'm going to try to be among the top 10 in the world in the individual all-around. Any opportunity I have to take a final on the fixed or parallel bar, I will be prepared. The general individual is our focus. If everything goes much better than we expect, we want to be in the top five”, said Diogo.

Even with financial difficulties, Barcelona is aware that it needs to make purchases in the current transfer window to reinforce the squad that Hansi Flick will lead next season. In 2023/24, Xavi Hernández, then coach, had to replace Gavi, Pedri and De Jong simultaneously due to absences. He had to improvise with defender Andreas Christensen.

So Barça is aware of its options and is thinking about Joshua Kimmich, from Bayern Munich, or Mikel Merino, from Real Sociedad, but both are difficult to sign. If the first two deals do not happen, a third option was presented this Monday (15).

According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, this is the Brazilian Wendel, who is a member of the Fluminense academy and has been He has been a Flamengo target for a long time. The midfielder, who is currently at Zenit with a contract until June 2027, can be sold for 20 million euros according to the Russian club's demands.

Galatasaray could not pay that amount, which was the even though Zenit paid Sporting in 2020 to sign him. The Culés team, led by president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco, considers the Brazilian midfielder as an alternative option to midfielder Guido Rodríguez, who was from Betis and now has no contract and was being released in Catalonia.

In the almost four years he played for Zenit, Wendel was a midfielder with a good approach to the attacking field and scored 20 goals and provided 25 assists.

Also according to the portal, the player would prefer to be seen as a plan B by the club's sports team than Guido Rodríguez, who the club wants.
