JOURNALIST THINKS IT'S CRAZY FOR LANDIM TO RENEW WITH GABIGOL AND SAYS: "HE'S THE RISK OF LOSING FLAMENGO"

The columnist Mauro Cezar Pereira highlighted in UOL's Posse de Bola that it is not only Flamengo that could lose Gabigol, but also Gabigol losing Flamengo. In Mauro's opinion, this is not the time to discuss contract renewal, especially with the striker suspended until 2025.

Today, the correct thing to do, if he is actually suspended and is unable to change this scenario, is for him to remain on the back burner, the law allows Flamengo to suspend his wages and renew his contract for a period of inactivity. So, if he completes the suspension until April, he could have his contract automatically renewed until January 2026. Talking about Gabriel's renewal today is crazy, it makes no sense"

'What would Gabigol be without Gabriel? Flamengo?'

"It's not a question of what Landim thinks, but what he has to do, it's not his money, it's the club's, simple as that. There is no point in renewing the guy's contract under these conditions today. It is also important to think about the other side, the importance of Gabriel for Flamengo and the importance of Flamengo for Gabriel. What would Gabigol be without Flamengo? What was he before Flamengo? A player who made it in Europe and didn't stay, a great promise for Santos before that, played for two unremarkable European teams, barely played, and at Flamengo he was transformed. So, what will Gabriel be like outside of Flamengo, especially Gabriel from last year? It wasn't a bad phase, it was a very bad season, including some very unfortunate statements that he made.
