Flamengo and Botafogo will face each other next Sunday (28) and the CBF selected a referee for the confrontation who will be heard at the CPI for Manipulation of Games and Sports Betting: Raphael Claus. The duel will start at 11am, at Maracanã. With criticism from John Textor, the rival asked for the arbitration to be changed, but the highest authority denied the request and worried commentator André Rizek.
“Even to protect Claus himself, who is under a lot of pressure , by both clubs. Flamengo may think that some move is to compensate, Botafogo may cause a scandal over any inverted side. It would be smart for the CBF to choose someone else, like Wilton Pereira Sampaio, and avoid the previous noise. The last Botafogo x Flamengo was refereed by Claus, we evaluated the performance as good, Botafogo caused a scandal due to two interpretative moves. I would have avoided it”, said Rizek on the Seleção SporTV program.
The journalist understands that the CBF could use “common sense” to avoid controversies in the classic: “The question I ask is whether it was the best choice to Claus. Not because of his quality, but because we know that he is one of the referees in John Textor's sights. Does the CBF have to be guided? No, but it has to be safe. I know several stories of managers going to the entity, ‘let’s not use a state referee’. The CBF, precisely because Ednaldo Rodrigues sues Textor under the CPF, not Botafogo's CNPJ, could have avoided a fuss”, he pointed out.
RIZEK PRAISES RAPHAEL CLAUS
In finishing his point of seen, Rizek praises Raphael Claus and says that the classic will have the best referee in Brazil: “I have no prior information to take away Claus' credibility, today I consider him the main referee in Brazilian football. I wanted to reflect on whether the CBF made the best decision. Not to keep it, because Botafogo protests after Claus was selected. Afterwards there is no way to change, the CBF says that FIFA prohibits it. Botafogo knows, makes a request to express dissatisfaction and the CBF”, he concluded.
FOCUS ON THE NEXT MATCH
So, with the arbitration already defined, the Flamengo begins preparations for the classic this Friday morning (26), at Ninho do Urubu. The Mais Querido will only have two days for training. The game against Botafogo will be next Sunday (28), at 11am, at Maracanã.

Flamengo received important news this Monday (4). Midfielder Arrascaeta underwent tests at the club's training center, Ninho do Urubu, which ruled out any muscle injury in the thigh. Thus, the number 10 is fit to reinforce the team in the return match against Atlético-MG , in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
The Uruguayan was substituted at halftime of the match against Ceará last weekend after complaining of muscle discomfort. The decision to withdraw him was made by coach Filipe Luís as a preventative measure , avoiding the worsening of a possible clinical condition.
The player's departure at half-time caused apprehension among fans, who feared the absence of the team's main playmaker in a decisive match. However, tests carried out on Monday ruled out any medical concerns , and Arrascaeta is available to the coaching staff for the match against Atlético-MG, on Wednesday (6).
Internally, the news was received enthusiastically, particularly given the tactical importance the midfielder represents to the team's attacking system . If he's fully fit by game day, Arrascaeta is likely to start.
After a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at Maracanã, Flamengo needs to win by two goals to secure a direct spot in the quarterfinals. If Flamengo wins by one goal, the match will go to penalties . A draw or another defeat in Belo Horizonte will result in Flamengo 's elimination from the competition.

Officially presented this Monday with the number 15 shirt, Jorge Carrascal arrived at Flamengo with the mission of strengthening the creative sector, occupying a role in which Arrascaeta has been a reference since 2019. Although he has not yet debuted with the Manto Sagrado, the Colombian midfielder stated that playing for the Rio de Janeiro club represents an important milestone in his professional career.
"The truth is, I came to Flamengo with a purpose: to work, compete, and achieve the best for the club. The short-term goal is to play and earn matches. I'll work hard, focus on the clear objective, and the lineup will depend on the coach," the player declared.
During the interview, Carrascal made a point of praising the club's structure and the Mais Querido's representation in the South American scene. According to him, the decision to wear the red-and-black jersey was made with conviction.
Carrascal talks about the deal with Flamengo: "For me it's a dream"
"As everyone knows, Flamengo is a very big team. A South American team that means a lot. It's a dream for me to play in Brazil, so I believe I made the best decision for my career," added the athlete, who had been playing for Dynamo Moscow before the transfer.
Despite being physically fit and training with the group, Carrascal is still awaiting official registration with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to make his debut. The player's name must be included in the Daily Information Bulletin (BID) to officially play for the team.
