Luíz Araújo played his second game for Flamengo. With a more timid performance, coach Sampaoli defines that he could have presented more. Expectations for the rookie are high.

This Saturday (08), Flamengo faced Palmeiras for the 14th round of the Brasileirão. The game ended in a tie with just two goals. The new striker of the Carioca team participated in the first half of the match, but was off. “I think he tried, but he played in 45 minutes in which the team was unable to play”, acknowledged the coach. Jorge Sampaoli, in a Press Conference, also spoke about how everyone in the team was lost, especially in the first half.

“I have great expectations for Luiz, because I know him from France. You have to adapt to a way of working”, pointed out the Argentine. He developed high expectations for the athlete after his last – and first – performance for the team: “He had a chance, but we haven't seen his best version yet. I expect a lot from him.”

Last Wednesday (05) was the Striker Debut. He impressed everyone by almost having an assist. Luiz Araújo came on in the 33rd minute of the second half, replacing Everton Ribeiro to give more volume to the game on the right side of the attack. The match was practically decided with Flamengo leading with an advantage of two goals to 1. That didn't stop the rookie from trying to put his mark on the game when Athlético-PR made mistakes and gave spaces. He made a deep pass to Bruno Henrique that almost ended up in an assist.

On Monday (03) he was presented at a press conference, where he revealed his eagerness to collaborate with Jorge Sampaoli's team. On Tuesday (04) he was officially attached to the Rio de Janeiro team when his name appeared in the BID (Daily Newsletter) of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation). And, on that same day (04) he was also training with the team at the CT (Training Center) Ninho do Urubu.

He is also, by all indications, in better physical condition than the others. two other players (Allan and Rossi) who joined the club in this second half of the season. The defensive midfielder and the goalkeeper suffered injuries last semester and have not played for months.

"Respect is the feeling..." Flamengo has Tite's words echoed behind the scenes with the fans

In an interview given after the defeat of Flamengoto Peñarol, 1-0, coach Tite was direct in responding to the boos received by the fans. The statement, marked by a frank tone, exposed the coach's pragmatic vision in relation to demanding fans and the pressure for results. “I respect the fans’ feelings. Of course I feel that (the boos), I'm human”, said Tite, recognizing the fans' frustration in the face of the setback.

Tite's speech reveals that he understands the role of fans as a fundamental part in the context of a club, especially in a team of great expression like Flamengo. By mentioning that the boos affect him as a human being, the coach demonstrates empathy, but does not fail to highlight that the only way to reverse this situation is with achievements on the field. “It can only be reversed in one way”, pointed out the coach.

THE MISTAKE THAT COSTED EXTREMELY DEARLY

The response reflects the experience of Titein dealing with pressure who follows the command of great teams in Brazilian football. With successful spells at clubs such as Corinthians, Grêmio and the Brazilian national team itself, the coach has a track record that puts him in a position to understand, perhaps like few others, the relationship between performance on the field and fans' expectations. For him, this connection is clear: “Do you know how to win fans? Do you know how I won over the fans of the other clubs I played for? Win an important title”, he declared.

The phrase highlights the centrality of titles in football, especially in mass clubs like Flamengo. In Brazil, the culture of results is intense, and Tite recognizes that fans have a limited tolerance for negative results. Winning titles, for him, is the key to gaining the support of the fans, and anything other than that results in discontent: “If not, bye.”

This last part of Tite's speech summarizes the characteristic impatience of demanding fans like Flamengo. The coach makes it clear that, without obtaining relevant trophies, the relationship with the fans deteriorates quickly. The pressure is constant and is part of the daily life of those who take on the leadership of top teams. Tite seems, however, to be aware of this scenario and how it needs to be faced.

Tite's statement came after a delicate moment for Flamengo. The defeat to Peñarol, at home, in a group stage match of the Copa Libertadores, raised alarm bells for fans and the coaching staff. Flamengo had high expectations for the season, especially after major reinforcements and the arrival of Tite, a coach with wide recognition on the national and international scene.

The pressure on Flamengo is nothing new. The club, which has one of the biggest fans in the world, is known for its high expectations for titles. The expensive squad, made up of renowned players, also increases this demand. Each stumble is widely covered by the media and amplifies the dissatisfaction of part of the fans, who demand immediate results.

CAN IT GO BAD AT THE MOMENT?

The Copa Libertadores, in particular, has a important meaning for Flamengo and its fans. The continental tournament is seen as one of the club's main objectives each season. Any result other than victory can generate dissatisfaction and pressure on the technical committee, as occurred after the setback against Peñarol.

In this context, Tite's speech not only recognizes the fans' dissatisfaction, but also is realistic in relation to what is expected from a club like Flamengo. The demand for titles is part of the package when taking over a club of this size, and the coach seems to be aware of this when he points out that he will only be able to win the support of the fans with significant victories.

Flaengo striker Luiz Araújo underwent successful surgery this Wednesday (13) to correct an osteochondral injury in his right knee. The procedure, carried out by doctor Max Ramos and accompanied by Márcio Tannure, head of the club's medical department, was necessary after the player fractured his cartilage during the derby against Vasco, last Sunday (10).

UNDERSTAND THE LUIZ ARAÚJO INJURY

The osteochondral injury involves the cartilage, a tissue that covers the bones between the joints. In cases of separation, degeneration or rupture, the underlying bone may also be affected. This condition is common in joints such as the knee, ankle and elbow, and can cause pain and movement limitations.

Luiz Araújo suffered the injury in a dispute with left-back Lucas Piton, from Vasco. After the collision, the Mais Querido player needed medical attention and, although he tried to continue on the field, he was substituted in the 17th minute of the first half.

RECOVERY TIME

The red-black attacker's estimated recovery time is approximately two months. During this period, he will undergo an intensive process of physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation, with the expectation of returning in shape for the end of the season.

FOCUS IN RECOVERY

Flamengo's medical department is closely monitoring Luiz Araújo's progress, ensuring that the player has all the conditions for a full recovery. The team is also looking for alternatives to make up for the athlete's absence in the next important commitments, both in the Brasileirão and the Libertadores.
