The ex -star Neto, today presenter and commentator, did another one of his. After Corinthians drew 1-1 with Racing (URU) in the Copa Sulamericana, the folkloric player spared no criticism of the black and white team from São Paulo. In an outburst on Band's Os Donos da Bola program, Neto revealed a fear about Corinthians' future that involves Flamengo.

For Neto, Corinthians is not ready to face the big clubs in the Brazilian Championship. The commentator stated: “I'm scared of what comes next! My God, imagine playing Flamengo at Maracanã. It will be 8 to 1! Or Inter in Beira Rio! Take it on all fours! Or Grêmio at the Arena, five more!”

To the relief of the former player, Corinthians debuts in the 2024 Brazilian Championship at home, against Atlético-MG. The clash with Flamengo is scheduled for the sixth round, at Maracnã, on May 11th. Will Neto's biggest fear come true?

Flamengo has a wide advantage over Corinthians in recent clashes

Neto is right to fear a clash between Flamengo and Corinthians. Rubro-Negro has exercised broad favoritism in clashes between the two clubs in recent times. In the last 16 games, since 2019, there have been ten wins for Fla, two wins for Timão and four draws.

Overall, Flamengo also has an advantage. In 151 games, Rubro-Negro managed 62 wins against Corinthians' 55 and 34 draws. In terms of goals, Fla players have scored 231 times against Corinthians 216 goals.

Midfielder Erick Pulgar took an important step towards returning to play for Flamengo . Tests carried out this Friday (12) showed the consolidation of the fracture in the fifth metatarsal of the right foot , allowing the player to be released to begin activities on the pitch.

With medical clearance, Pulgar now begins the transition to field work . The Chilean will continue physical therapy to resume running, progress to ball-handling activities, and then enter the physical conditioning phase, the final phase before returning to official matches.

The midfielder hasn't played since the Club World Cup in June. After surgery on July 3, Pulgar spent some time in Chile and then returned to Ninho do Urubu to continue his treatment. Until then, he had been working out in the training center's indoor area.

INJURY AGAINST BAYERN

The injury occurred during the Club World Cup Round of 16 match against Bayern Munich. The midfielder had already suffered the same type of fracture in his first months at the club, when it took him about 60 days to return to the squad.

RETURN TO GAMES

Although coach Filipe Luís stated that he was counting on the Chilean for the Libertadores quarterfinals, it is unlikely that he will be on the field for the matches against Estudiantes , scheduled for September 18 and 25. Pulgar is expected to be available later in the season, reinforcing Flamengo's role in the ongoing competitions.
