0Last Thursday (20), a parade with pieces created and produced by students of the Ombro a Ombro social project celebrated the three training classes that have already passed this second year of the project. The event was an opportunity for the students to put into practice the fundamentals of cutting, modeling, sewing and finishing learned throughout the course, which lasts four months. The vast majority of women participating in Ombro a Ombro are already formally working or undertaking activities related to the craft of sewing.
Combining professional training and income generation, Flamengo Social Responsibility created, in June 2022, the Ombro a Ombro social project, in partnership with the organization Aldeias Infantis SOS Brasil, to work with Brazilian women and refugees. In addition to improving the lives of these women, Ombro a Ombro seeks to collaborate in the construction and strengthening of female self-esteem, empowerment and autonomy, through the craft of sewing and conversation circles on various cross-cutting themes. In two years of the project, Ombro a Ombro has already trained 140 women and around 80 are already generating income from the project's training.
“The Ombro a Ombro project increased my self-esteem, I made new friends, I started to live with more people, which was very important for me. In addition, I learned to sew, today I make dresses, dish towels, toilet paper holders... It's also a way for me to earn extra income to help with my budget", said Valdenice Cerqueira de Souza, resident of the region and student of the project Shoulder to Shoulder. “Many students are opening their own businesses, others are doing small repairs at home, it is a very important project for these women. Most are single mothers, heads of families. this project”, said Ana Cristina Nunes, coordinator of Ombro a Ombro.
Friends and family of the students present at the parade were also very happy and proud with the achievement of the Ombro a Ombro participants, further strengthening the project. confidence and enthusiasm of these women, who walked the catwalk produced and made up by the Make Art Space beauty team. To make the event even more special, the fashion show was presented by actress Pia Manfroni, who commented on each piece of clothing and cheered with the achievement of students.

0The countdown to the 2024 Paris Olympics continues at full steam and with 30 days to go until the start of the games, Team Brazil has a strong squad to compete in the competition. With 56 medalists in Olympic and World Games, 24% of the athletes who will represent Brazil have already won important awards in their sports.
“Our delegation will be formed with a mix of renowned names, Olympic or world champions , and young athletes with great potential. Having references in the modalities brings extra strength to the team, which feels more motivated to achieve significant results and break records. I am sure that our athletes will have a great campaign in Paris 2024”, stated the head of mission of the Brazilian delegation Rogério Sampaio.
In total, Brazil has already secured 259 places for the competition. There will be 237 athletes in the Brazilian delegation going to Paris so far, with 137 women and 93 men confirmed. In equestrian, 7 mixed places are still to be defined.
The numbers, which already demonstrate the strength of Team Brazil for the Paris Games, can still grow. The qualification window for the Olympics only closes in the first week of July and the tendency is for medalists from renowned Brazilian sports, such as handball and volleyball, to still join the delegation.
