After a strong debut at the Paris Olympics, the Brazilian women's artistic gymnastics team secured the bronze medal in the final of the sport this Tuesday (30). The team, made up of some athletes from Flamengo such as Rebeca Andrade, Flávia Saraiva, Jade Barbosa and Lorrane Oliveira, as well as Júlia Soares , achieved a historic feat by finishing in third place with a final score of 164.497.

The Brazilian team faced stiff competition, but managed to stand out. The gold medal went to the United States, which scored 171,296 points, while the silver went to Italy, which achieved 165,494 points. This is the first time that Brazil has achieved a podium in the women's artistic gymnastics team competition at the Olympics.

Before the competition, the Brazilian team went through a moment of tension when Flávia Saraiva suffered a fall from the bars parallel during heating, opening the eyebrow. Despite the scare, Flávia returned to the competition and contributed to the team's overall performance. In the scoring system, the team's worst score is discarded for each device.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHT

Rebeca Andrade, gold medalist at the Tokyo Games, was the highlight of the Brazilian team. She achieved the highest scores on the team on all devices: vault (15.100), floor exercise (14.200), beam (14.133) and parallel bars (14.533). Her scores were close to those of her main opponent, Simone Biles, who had a standout performance with vault (14.900), beam (14.363), parallels (14.400) and floor exercise (14.666).

In the classification phase, Brazil finished in fourth place, with 166,499 points. The first positions went to the United States (172,296), Italy (166,861) and China (166,628).

A HISTORICAL MILESTONE

The achievement of bronze represents a historic milestone for women's artistic gymnastics in Brazil. The solid performance and resilience of Brazilian athletes highlight the growth and evolution of the sport in the country, inspiring future generations of gymnasts.
