The Datafolha Institute released a survey that points out the division of the Brazilian population by the supporters of different clubs throughout the national territory. Flamengo maintains a leadership position with a fan base that is the largest ever estimated by the agency's researchers.
The survey was shared this Friday (25) and points out how the Red-Black fans are made up of 21% of the totality of the Brazilian people, which is approximately 42 million people. The separation between Mengão and second place, Corinthians, is already huge. Timão accumulates 30 million fans (15% of Brazilians).
As if this margin were not already big enough 'enough', the following clubs have only 33% of what Flamengo represents. São Paulo and Palmeiras, tied, remain on the 'podium' with 7% of the national population, which implies about 14 million people.
Among the Rio teams, the first to appear on the table is Vasco. Cruzmaltino is only 4% of Brazil, tied with Cruzeiro and Grêmio. The three have a total of 8.12 million fans in their favor.
Proving, once again, the greatness of Mengão before its state rivals, then comes Botafogo (2% = 4.06 million people), leader of the Brazilian Championship, but which is in a sad 9th place in this table. The 'Lone Star' is tied with Bahia, Atlético-MG and Internacional.
Finally, soon after comes the 'historic enemy' of the Mais Querido: Fluminense. The tricolor of Rio de Janeiro is together with teams like Sport, Vitória and Fortaleza in the last position of the ranking, the 13th place. Fluminense fans are only 1% of the population, which is equivalent to 2.03 million people.
Equal to Flu fans is also the group of Brazilians who do not support any team in particular, but choose to only support the Brazilian team.

Flamengo and Estudiantes face each other this Thursday (17), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. Fans of both teams have sold out their tickets and promise a huge party in the stands , worthy of a decisive clash in the main club tournament in South America.
Flamengo is expected to break the attendance record in Brazil in 2025. The current record is held by the Rio de Janeiro club itself, which drew 69,447 fans in its draw with Grêmio in the Brazilian Championship . With high demand for tickets and the atmosphere of the final, the number is projected to be surpassed this Thursday.
Maracanã has a capacity of approximately 78,000 fans, making it the largest stadium in the country. However, due to mandatory separation between fans, not all seats are available . Even so, Flamengo usually reaches nearly 70,000 attendance when it reaches its record attendance, which is expected for this match.
Rubro-Negro reached the quarterfinals after eliminating Internacional , while Estudiantes advanced by defeating Cerro Porteño. The semifinal spot will be decided in the second leg in Argentina next week.
