After Flamengo's 2-0 victory over Bolívar, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, coach Tite denied rumors that four players had left the match injured. In a press conference, Tite clarified the situation of each athlete and pointed out Chilean midfielder Erick Pulgar as the only one with a more serious muscle problem.

SITUATION OF THE PLAYERS

Tite addressed the cases of the players who were mentioned after the match. According to the coach, Gerson, Nico De La Cruz and Varela only had cramps. Pulgar was the only one to suffer an adductor injury, which makes him the main concern for the next commitments. “Gerson had a cramp, Erick (Pulgar) felt his adductor, Nico (De La Cruz) also had a cramp, and Varela had cramps in both calves”, said Tite.

O Flamengo is now preparing for the next challenge: a classic against Botafogo, scheduled for this Sunday (17), at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Nilton Santos Stadium. Léo Pereira highlighted the importance of focusing on the Rio rival before thinking about Bolívar again. “We have to focus on Botafogo now. The season is demanding, with important games every week. After the classic, we will turn our attention to Bolívar”, he added.

NEXT STEPS AND PROJECTIONS

THE Flamengo will be able to advance to the Libertadores quarter-finals even with a one-goal defeat in the return game, which will take place next Thursday (22), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Hernando Siles Stadium.

A defeat by two goals will lead to penalties, while a defeat by three goals will result in direct elimination. In the group stage, Bolívar beat Flamengo 2-1, which adds an extra layer of tension to the decisive game.
