Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano assured this Thursday (25) that Rennes contacted the staff of Fabrício Bruno to probe the player's interest in a transfer to French football. The Flamengo defender would be a type of second option, if the French club is unable to sign Leo Ostigard, from Napoli.
Romano states, however, that the negotiation could take place even with Rennes' success in signing the Norwegian player.
Recently, Fabrício Bruno was very close to transferring to West Ham, from England, but the negotiation was held up due to a salary difference. West Ham's proposal to Flamengo was 15 million euros (R$84.3 million), which serves as a guideline for the value for which Mais Querido would be willing to negotiate the defender.
The French team has less purchasing power and relevance on the world stage than West Ham. But this does not mean that they do not have the capacity financial to make an investment of this size.
In recent seasons, the French team signed two defenders for values even higher than what West Ham offered Flamengo for Fabrício Bruno: Arthur Theate (19 million euros in the season 2022/23) and Loic Badé (17 million euros in the 2021/22 season).
At first, however, the prospect of moving to Rennes, who finished tenth in the last French Championship and did not compete in any European competition, it does not seem attractive to Fabrício Bruno.
