Tite chose to use different goalkeepers in specific tournaments, an approach that aims, among other factors, to keep players fresh and motivated. In the current scenario, the change of goalkeepers mainly involves Matheus Cunha, who has gained space in the Brasileirão, and Agustín Rossi, who many believe to be the ideal name to compete in knockout competitions, such as the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores.

Matheus Cunha, young goalkeeper of Flamengo, was a commitment from the club and has shown consistency in the competitions it has played in so far. However, even with good performances, there are those who believe that the pressure of more intense tournaments, such as the Libertadores and the final stretch of the Copa do Brasil, may be too high for a player still in the maturing phase.

TITE'S CHOICE FOR THE WORLD CUPS

Tite's option to keep him as a starter in the Brazilian Championship makes sense when considering the profile of the competition. The Brasileirão, as it is a straight points tournament, allows more opportunities for recovery after specific errors. Thus, Matheus Cunha has the chance to gain more experience in an environment that, although challenging, offers a greater margin for error compared to knockout tournaments.

On the other hand, Agustín Rossi is seen as a better choice safe for knockout competitions. The goalkeeper Argentine has experience in high-pressure games, mainly due to his performances at his former club, Boca Juniors, where he was involved in decisive Libertadores clashes. Rossi has already demonstrated security under the goalposts, being a better-rounded goalkeeper and accustomed to the tension of games that require high performance and few errors.

Tite's choice to put Rossi in to compete in the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores seems strategic, as these tournaments require a goalkeeper profile with the ability to decide in key moments, where a mistake could cost the team elimination.

Train the Flamengois the dream of many players and, outside the pitch, the same desire exists among football coaches. Among these coaches, a prominent name is Geninho, Brazilian champion with Athletico-PR in 2001. In a recent interview on the program 'Mesa Redonda', on TV Gazeta, the coach revealed that, if he had the opportunity to lead Flamengo , his career would be complete.

Even with his extensive CV and spells at major Brazilian football clubs, such as Corinthians, Botafogo, Vasco, Santos and Atlético-MG, Geninho never had the chance to coach Flamengo. Even so, the coach cherishes the memory of having worked with one of the biggest idols of the red and black fans: Dejan Petkovic. The Serbian, who is an important figure in the club's history, was led by Geninho at three different times: Vitória (1998), Vasco (2004) and Atlético-MG (2008).

FLAMENGO HAS HIS MAIN PRAISED ACHIEVEMENTS

In addition to his achievements at Athletico-PR and Corinthians, Geninho accumulated several state titles for clubs in the Northeast, Central-West and South of Brazil. Despite this, Flamengo remains an “unfulfilled desire” in the career of the veteran coach, who has been without a club since 2022, when he left Vitória.

While Geninho reflects on his career and the dream of coaching the Flamengo , the club is experiencing a new era under the command of Tite, a coach renowned for his work in the Brazilian National Team and in major clubs such as Corinthians, where he won major titles such as the Libertadores and the Club World Cup. Tite took over Flamengo at a decisive moment in the season, with the club still competing in the Brazilian Championship and international competitions.

Currently, Flamengo is divided between two fronts. This Sunday (22), the red and black reserves, led by technical assistant Matheus Bachi, face Grêmio, in Porto Alegre, in the 27th round of the Brasileirão. Tite, in turn, is focused on preparations for the clash against Peñarol (URU), which takes place on Thursday (26), in the Sudamericana. This division of attention reflects the high level of demand and the need for careful strategic planning to handle all competitions.

The Flamengofaced one of the most delicate moments of its season after the 3-2 defeat to Grêmio, in a match valid for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship. Last Sunday (22), the Rio team opted for a team made up mostly of young people from the base, saving 13 main players who stayed in Rio de Janeiro. This choice was aimed at preparing for the decisive Libertadores game against Peñarol, which will take place this Thursday (26). However, the strategy was not well received by the press and generated criticism, highlighting the analysis by journalist Pedro Ivo.

The decision to spare important players against Grêmio was widely debated, mainly due to the direct impact that this defeat could have on the rest of the season. Pedro Ivo, during his appearance on ESPN's Linha de Passe program, stated that Flamengo, by making this decision and announcing it publicly on Friday (20), had already committed itself negatively to the result.

A BITTER DEFEAT IN THE SEASON

According to the journalist, the fact of announcing that 13 players would not travel to Porto Alegre set the tone of an "institutional defeat" before even if the ball rolls. Flamengo, by giving up a significant part of its main squad to focus on the Libertadores, would have assumed the risk of suffering from the defeat in the Brasileirão, which in fact occurred.

This stance, according to Pedro Ivo, it's uncommon in Flamengo, which traditionally does not announce in advance who will be left out of matches. The early announcement generated a feeling that the defeat on Sunday was, in a way, already expected, devaluing the confrontation and bringing consequences that could affect the atmosphere at the club for the remainder of the season.

The Flamengo , under the command of Tite, is facing one of the most delicate moments of the season, and one of the main problems is the absence of Pedro in the attack. The striker, who had been the main name in the offensive sector, ended up getting injured, leaving a gap that was not filled by the board, generating criticism from both fans and experts. The club's management chose not to seek suitable reinforcements, which has now weighed heavily on the team's performance.

Pedro had been the team's most decisive player Flamengo. He carried the attack practically alone, being responsible for finishing the plays and holding down the opposing defenses. His ability to act as a reference in the area allowed the team to vary offensive plays, something that Flamengo now clearly misses. With his injury, offensive production dropped drastically. What was once a team with great attacking power, now appears disorganized and without a clear plan of action.

FLAMENGO WILL HAVE ITS GOLEMAN AWAY

The lack of an immediate replacement for Pedro exposes a planning problem. In modern football, injuries are part of every team's routine, and having a squad that can make up for these absences is essential. In the case of Flamengo, this did not happen. There was no signing of a player with characteristics similar to Pedro's, which left Tite in a delicate situation. The coach needs to reorganize the game system without counting on his main offensive player, a task that has proven challenging.

Tite, upon taking command of Flamengo, inherited a squad with many qualities, but also with some gaps. Pedro's absence further accentuates these deficiencies. The coach is known for his tactical work and ability to assemble balanced teams, but the lack of options in attack has made this mission difficult.
