The Flamengo is in an election year. In this way, many candidates are already starting to launch their candidacies for the club's presidency, as is the case of Wallim Vasconcelos, who will make his candidacy official this Friday (2). Thus, Mais Querido's former football and finance vice-president will be the fourth name in the dispute.


According to information from journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira, Wallim Vasconcelos will apply to be Rodolfo Landim's successor. In this way, Wallim will compete with Rodrigo Dunshee, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, Bap, and Maurício Gomes de Mattos.

On his social networks, Wallim presents himself as having " over 30 years of experience in financial services.” Currently, the former VP of Mais Querido is "head" of Paramis Capital, but has previously worked as executive director of BNDES bank and served as a senior consultant at Internacional Finance Corporation.

Wallim Vasconcelos was a very important figure in Rodolfo Landim's administration, even though he has remained out of the spotlight since the beginning of the current president's term. However, internally, the former director does not approve of some decisions made by the current red-black board.

The weekend was full of great results for the red-and-black water polo team . Playing at home, at the Fadel Fadel Aquatic Park in Gávea, Flamengo showed its strength in the pools. In total, there were four games – two in the women's and two in the men's – with the red-and-black team winning three of them in front of its fans.



ROUND DEBUT




The round marked the debut of the men's team in the competition, while the women's team made their second appearance. On Saturday (5), the girls were the first to hit the water and secured a secure victory over ABDA, 9 to 6. Then, it was the men's team's turn to start their journey on the right foot, beating the Bauruense team 14 to 10.


MEANWHILE ON SUNDAY



On Sunday (6), the women's team faced Sesi, in a very balanced duel that ended with a victory for the visitors by 8 to 7. Despite fighting until the end, the red-blacks unfortunately suffered their first defeat in the competition.

Closing the round, the men's team starred in one of the most exciting games of the season: an 11-11 draw against Pinheiros in regular time and a 5-4 victory on penalties, guaranteeing the team's second consecutive victory in the competition.

It is worth remembering that, in the first round of the women's competition , held at Clube Paineiras, in Morumbi, Flamengo had already beaten Pinheiros by 10 to 9, adding two wins in three games. Now, both teams are preparing for the next phase of the National League, which will be played on May 9 and 10, at Sesi Leopoldina, in São Paulo.

After Flamengo's volleyball team was eliminated by Osasco last Wednesday (03), outside hitter Helena Wenk made an analysis of her first season as a starter. The 25-year-old athlete highlighted the challenges faced and the evolution within the team throughout the championship.


A gem formed in the Mengão youth system, Helena Wenk celebrated the opportunity to play as a starter for the first time . The player admitted that she faced difficulties at the beginning, but highlighted the learning acquired during the competition.

BRIE LIFTER CONFIRMS DEPARTURE

Another confirmed change in the squad is the departure of setter Brie. The player, who was part of the team for three seasons, announced her departure after the elimination against Osasco and became emotional when talking about her time at the club.

"I'm very grateful. It's been three wonderful years here. This team is my second family. I'm going to miss this team, the girls, the training center a lot. It was a dream to play here. I'm sad, but also happy for my three years," said Brie.
