On the afternoon of this Sunday (17), the Flamengo overcame Boca Juniors and became U20 Libertadores champion for the first time. In the decision, won 2-1, the attackers Sholaand Lorran were the scorers of the goals. However, the competition's top scorer was defender Iago.

Iago scored a total of four goals in five games played. Among them, the most important and decisive were in the semifinal against Rosario Central (ARG). This is because Flamengo went behind on the scoreboard, but the defender found the back of the net twice in the match, thus guaranteeing the victory and classification.

FLAMENGO'S ANOTHER GOALScorer

In addition to the number 3 defender, the competition had another player with four goals. Attacking midfielder Wallace Ian, also from Flamengo, reached the milestone with one goal against Defensor (URU), one against Aucas (EQU) and two against Sporting Cristal (PER).

IAGO WAS NOT FROM THE MAIN TEAM AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON

Even at his young age and with the dream of achieving great things in his career, Iago can say that he achieved an important rise. This is because, at the beginning of the year, the Ninho child was not among Flamengo's main under-20 athletes.

Also highlighting that, when part of the team went professional to play for Carioca, Iago continued with the under-20 team. On that occasion, Rubro Negro reached the semi-finals of the competition, even using an alternative team.

Since arriving at the club, the striker has gone through moments of ups and downs, but has shown maturity and ability to respond in critical moments. His finishing power and his presence in the opponent's area have been fundamental to the coach's tactical scheme, who trusts Pedro to be the man in goal in complicated matches.

It is important to highlight that the score of 32 goals achieved by Pedro this season is not the result of chance, but rather of constant work and adaptation to the playing style of Flamengo.
