The club is in an election year and debates are taking place

0Flamengo is experiencing decisive moments in the Copa Libertadores da América. This Thursday (22), the team will face Bolívar in La Paz, Bolivia, at 3,640 meters of altitude. With a 2-0 victory at Maracanã in the first leg, the team led by Tite enters the field with the advantage of being able to lose by up to a goal difference to guarantee qualification to the quarter-finals.
In addition to the pressure within the four lines, Flamengoalso faces a turbulent political scenario. The club is in an election year, a crucial time to decide who will lead the institution for the next three years. After two successful terms, marked by titles and achievements, current president Rodolfo Landim is preparing to hand over command to a new leader.
Rodolfo Landim has worked intensely to ensure the continuity of his management, supporting Rodrigo Dunshee as a candidate for president of the club. According to information from the website O Dia, Landim seeks to consolidate his legacy through the election of Dunshee, believing that he will continue the successful project implemented in recent years.
Internally, Marcos Braz's departure is discussed by those who still support Landim and Dunshee, but this idea is still rejected by president Rodolfo Landim, who sees BAP's distance increasing every day in the race for Flamengo's presidency.
Flamengo could see one of its starters leave the club soon. This is defender Fabrício Bruno, who has advanced negotiations with Rennes, from France, to transfer to European football. The player treated the possibility as a dream. However, vice-president of football Marcos Braz said in an interview after the defeat suffered against Botafogo that the player's will is not important but Flamengo's interests are.
A Braz's statement did not go down well within the red and black squad. According to journalist Venê Casagrande, Fabrício Bruno, the direct target of the director's comment, and the rest of the group were very uncomfortable with the speech from Flamengo's football vice-president. “The athlete (Fabrício) didn’t like it at all, the group didn’t like it at all, they found the interview extremely unnecessary, exposing an athlete from the group, that’s how you lose the locker room”, said the journalist

The club has its irreparable loss

0In the last round of the Libertadores group stage, Flamengo, now under the command of coach Tite, saw its long undefeated streak as home team come to an end. The 1-0 defeat marked the end of a run of 28 matches without losing at home in the competition. The negative result was a shock for the fans, mainly because it occurred at a crucial moment in the season and because of the expectations surrounding the team led by a renowned coach like Tite.
The last time Flamengo had been defeated at Maracanã by the Libertadores was in April 2019, when Peñarol beat the red-black team by the same score of 1-0. The current setback, therefore, brought back memories of that game, creating a feeling of déjà vu among fans . It is worth remembering that, at that time, Flamengo was in a moment of transition and seeking to consolidate itself as one of the powers of South American football.
With the arrival of Tite at the helm of Flamengo, the expectation was that the team would gain tactical consistency and competitiveness in important tournaments, such as the Libertadores itself. Tite, who has a respected CV, mainly for his work in the Brazilian national team, was hired with the mission of making Flamengo become dominant again both on the national and international scene.
The defeat at home, however , served as a cold water for part of the fans who expected a quiet victory. Their unbeaten record at home was seen as one of Flamengo's trump cards in continental competition, a guarantee of strength within their domains. By losing this status, the team will now need to deal with the pressure and doubts that arise from this result.
Coach recognizes mistakes in the first leg

0After the 1-0 defeat to Peñarol, in the first game of the Libertadores quarter-finals, coach Tite held a press conference at Maracanã. The team did not perform well and was booed by the fans. Despite the setback, the coach remained confident for the second leg, which will be held in Uruguay.
Regarding the boos coming from the stands, Tite admitted that the fans' dissatisfaction is understandable. "Of course this hurts, especially on the human side. But experience shows that, when you deliver a good production, the fan's reaction is proportional to the love they feel for the club", said the coach, highlighting the emotional bond between the fans and the Most Dear.
The coach was also asked about the difficulty of Mengão in achieving victories away from home in the Libertadores, since 2022. The last victory away from home came on August 31, 2022, against Vélez Sarsfield, with an impressive 4-0. "We have a great opportunity to break this sequence This is part of the history of football, and I believe we are fully capable of getting there and changing this scenario", replied Tite, showing optimism.
Tite guaranteed that the team will be more effective in Uruguay, promising a better performance. "Within two or three minutes, we score the goal, and from that point on, we work on the result. In some moments we were hasty, and the opposing goalkeeper also had merit. But I'm confident that we will create half of the opportunities and convert them into goals there. You can charge me later", said the coach, projecting a positive scenario for the second leg.
Luciano Bandeira declared his vote for Rodrigo Dunshee as president of Flamengo and asked for support from the Advocacia Rubro-Negra group

0Luciano is a member of the Advocacia Rubro-Negra group, made up only of lawyers who are members of the club, and asks the rest of the members to follow the vote for Rodrigo Dunshee. It is worth noting that other members had already declared their support for the current management.
“We want to build this story, help make this story even greater. President Landim, together with Rodrigo, managed to make the dream of land for the Flamengo stadium come true. It is very important that we have this group leading the process. (…) It is a very important election for Flamengo. (…) I ask everyone who has always accompanied me to help me in the campaign to elect Rodrigo Dunshee president”, said Luciano Bandeira in his speech.
It is worth highlighting that six political groups have already declared support for Rodrigo Dunshee to next president of Flamengo. They are: Fla Esportes; Flamengo Raiz; Our Fla; Red-Black Synergy; União Rubro-Negra and Vanguarda Rubro-Negra.
This is in addition to the groups that have part of the members supporting the candidate in the Flamengo elections: Advocacia RN and FLA+.
The election to define the next president of Flamengo is scheduled to take place on December 9th, a Monday, at 8am, in Gávea. Maurício Gomes de Mattos and Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap) are the main opponents to Rodrigo Dunshee at the moment.
Wallim Vasconcellos, Pedro Paulo and Delair Dumbrosck also announced their candidacy. The tickets need to be registered from September 10th to 30th and it is difficult to gather signatures. It will not be surprising, therefore, if a candidate does not achieve the minimum required.
