Flamengo intensified conversations in the search for the construction of the stadium itself in recent weeks. According to the investigation by journalist Gustavo Henrique from the “Dando Choque” portal, Mercado Livre would be willing to invest R$1 billion in the project.

“Flamengo entered the intense process of building the stadium. Everyone wants to be on the project. Partners arrive and things start to happen. Mercado Livre is willing to invest R$1 billion to have the name rights to the new Flamengo stadium”, said Choque, in a video on his YouTube channel.

The company's idea is to hold the naming right for the possible new Rubro-Negro stadium. It is worth noting that the company recently purchased the rights to promote the brand in Pacaembu, in São Paulo, for 1 billion and 700 million reais. The movement shows the company's tendency to have its name linked to football stadiums.

Another point to remember is that Banco BRB, another sponsor of Rubro-Negro, also showed interest in the naming rights from Flamengo stadium. The institution's offer would be R$700 million, a value lower than that of Mercado Livre.

Despite all the interest, Flamengo's stadium project is still very embryonic. Therefore, Rubro-Negro is still looking to purchase the land, which until now would be the site of the old Gasometer, in the port region of Rio de Janeiro.
