Anderson Daronco will officiate Flamengo x São Paulo< /a>, Wednesday (17) at Maracanã. The CBF (Brazilian football confederation) roster was released this Monday (17), on the entity's official website, where the lineup appears.

The referee considered the 'worst in Brazil' in 2022 will have as assistants Rafael da Silva Alves and Maurício Coelho Silva Penna. Rodrigo D'Alonso Ferreira commands the VAR in the match that will be held at Maracanã, a place that is capable of receiving the new CBF technology.

The election of Daronco as the 'worst referee in Brazil' was made by the players themselves, who also ended up agreeing that he was the best referee in the country, too. Last year, the portal 'UOL' carried out an extensive survey in which players working in Brazil voted, separately, for who would be the best and worst referee in the country.

Impressively, Daronco won both votes. And the result was very balanced: he was named by 27% of the players as the best referee in Brazil, just as for 27% of them he is the worst of all. During the 2022 season, he refereed 39 matches, in the different championships. He was one of the most active referees at the time.

After refereeing the first game of the 2023 Copa do Brasil final, between Flamengo and São Paulo, at Maracanã, referee Anderson Daronco won spotlight to the point of becoming a FIFA referee and also traveling to officiate in Saudi Arabia.

He also caught attention in the first game of the round of 16 between Flamengo and Fluminense in last year's Copa do Brasil. On that occasion, the team led by Sampaoli managed to qualify for the next phase.

Amid a turbulent scenario behind the scenes , Flamengo continues its preparations to face São Paulo , next Saturday (12), for the Brazilian Championship. Even with the pressures and recent changes, coach Filipe Luís remains focused and has three fundamental decisions to make in the coming days.

1. DEFINE GERSON'S SUBSTITUTE

With Gerson leaving for Zenit (Russia), Filipe Luís needs to find a new name to fill the midfielder's spot , who was an absolute starter. Versatile, Gerson played both as a second midfielder and as a right winger, which increases the complexity of the choice. The red-and-black coach will have to evaluate which tactical profile best fits the team's current situation.

2. CHOOSE THE NEW CAPTAIN

The captain's armband is also vacant. Among the main candidates are Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique , players with more time at the club and a prominent role in the squad. However, names like Danilo and Rossi, recognized for their leadership on a day-to-day basis, also appear as viable options.

3. FIND A NEW FIRST STEERING WHEEL

In addition to Gerson, Flamengo also lost Pulgar, who underwent foot surgery and will be out for a few months. For the first midfielder position, Jorginho is the favorite — the player has even said he feels comfortable playing as a "number 5". Other options include Allan, Evertton Araújo and the young Pablo Lúcio, who worked with Filipe Luís in the youth team and could earn a place in the main squad.

FLAMENGO'S NEXT GAME

Flamengo returns to the field on Saturday (12), at 4:30 pm (Brasília time), against São Paulo, at Maracanã, for the 13th round of the Brasileirão. The match will be broadcast live on Rede Globo (open TV) and Premiere (pay-per-view) . Rubro-Negro leads the competition with 24 points, the same score as Cruzeiro, but with an advantage in goal difference (20 to 9) and with one game less than its rival from Minas Gerais.
