Shortly before the Copa do Brasil final match ended, a somewhat strange episode happened. São Paulo's Gabriel Neves received a red card from the referee who soon after sounded the last whistle, declaring São Paulo Brazilian champions. The star explained the unusual episode in a recent interview.

The decisive clash between Flamengo and São Paulo, at Morumbi, took place more than a week ago, on Sunday, September 24th. The game ended in a draw (1-1) and Tricolor from São Paulo won its first Brazilian Cup. But first, one of the players had to be sent off, even though it wouldn't have much of an effect.

Gabriel Neves was booked 54 minutes into the second half. Judge Bráulio Machado da Silva asked him for the ball, exactly, to end the game. However, he was not content with passing the object and ended up kicking it towards the referee. The attitude was seen as disrespectful and resulted in the Uruguayan star being expelled.

"Actually it was sh*t", he said amid laughter during the recording of a podcast on 'SPFC Play'. "I think he wanted to appear, because he asked for the ball to end the game, I was obviously happy, I took the ball and kicked it up", said the tricolor, being complemented by the interviewer who said: "to celebrate!" And he said: "He's going to kick me out! But he's done", he concluded with good humor.

The only expulsion of the match does not seem to have had much effect, as it was the last game of the entire championship, which is why Neves said that the referee could have been trying to 'draw attention'. Other than that, the match was generally calm, which was different from what was expected for the decision.

Last Tuesday, the candidate for re-election for mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, denied the journalist Ancelmo Gois, from Globo. In a post on Instagram, the mayor informed that the city hall will be responsible for removing the megastructure on the gas meter site, different from what was reported. Furthermore, he guaranteed that Flamengo will have its new stadium, with the best conditions and security.

The news published by Ancelmo informs that Flamengo would have to pay R$100 million to remove a large gas structure present on land acquired by the club, which is owned by CEG and CEG-Rio, which are companies that are part of the gas concessionaire Naturgy.

According to the article, the companies were informed that Flamengo is the responsible for bearing the expenses, as provided for in one of the annexes to the land purchase and transfer contract. The clause, however, does not have a specified limit.

Eduardo Paes guarantees that the removal is the responsibility of Rio's city hall.

Paes stated that the values for the transfer of the structure are different from what was pointed out in the article by Ancelmo Gois. Furthermore, it exempted Flamengo from any responsibility, and that the city hall has been planning to remove it for years.

“They are making me defend @flamengo more than I would like: let it be clear that this is not the The cost of this transfer and when it happens will be the responsibility of the city of Rio, which knows that this structure cannot be in an area that is already receiving so many residential buildings. It's been in our plans for a long time! Flamengo will have its new stadium there in the gasometer with all the quality and safety that the region demands and deserves. Period!”, published the mayor.

Flamengo announced that striker Luiz Araújo was diagnosed with an osteochondral injury in his right knee. This injury involves a fracture in the cartilage, which causes pain and limits the player's mobility. To treat the problem, Luiz Araújo will undergo arthroscopy, a minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows visualization and treatment of injuries within the joint.

This type of injury is not uncommon in high-performance athletes, especially those who place great load on joints, like football players. Arthroscopy is often used in these cases, as it allows direct treatment of the affected area, with less risk of complications compared to more invasive surgeries.

FLAMENGO HAS A NEW PROBLEM

According to information from the specialized website Trivela, the recovery time for this type of injury is around six to eight weeks. This period includes both post-surgical healing and rehabilitation, which is essential for the player to be able to resume his activities on the field safely and without risk of a new injury.

Osteochondral injuries are characterized by damage in the cartilage and underlying bone, usually caused by repetitive impacts or a sudden twist that puts stress on the joint. In the case of Luiz Araújo, the injury occurred in the right knee, which is one of the most affected joints in football players due to constant physical demands, jumping and sudden changes in direction.

A cartilagehas the function of absorbing impacts and allowing smooth movement of the joints. When this cartilage is damaged, movement becomes painful, and lack of proper treatment can lead to more serious problems, such as osteoarthritis, a degenerative condition of the joints. Arthroscopy is a surgical technique used to diagnose and treat joint problems. The procedure is performed with the aid of an arthroscope, a thin instrument with a camera at the tip that allows the surgeon to see inside the joint without the need for large cuts.
