Making her debut at the World Championships in a new weight category, the red-and-black fighter first faced the Spanish Cristina Cabana Perez and won with a yuko . In the second round, she had no difficulty against the French Manon Deketer, number eight in the world, and scored an ipponzazo after twenty seconds of fighting.
In the round of 16, Rafa faced Colombian Cindy Mera. Her opponent started off by receiving two penalties, leaving her hanging on the scoreboard, and still managed to score a waza-ari. Again aggressive, the Brazilian landed a beautiful uchi-mata in the first seconds of the fight and advanced to the semifinal , where she crossed paths with Canadian Catherine Beauchimin-Pinard and was immobilized for twenty seconds until ippon.
In the bronze medal match, Gankhaich Bold from Mongolia came. In the first few minutes of the fight, the two were hanging with two shidos each, until nine seconds from the end, Bold managed to throw Rafaela in waza-ari, taking the medal.
“It’s hard to say I’m happy with my performance, because I ended up going home without a medal. But we can take some positive things from it. I made it to the semifinals and could have been in the running for gold in one fight. This is the World Championship. I’m happy with my performance. I’ve seen the progress I’ve made this year. In my first competitions I wouldn’t make it past the first or second round, and here I won the Olympic medal. This just makes me believe I can go further,” said Rafaela.
After a strong performance in the transfer market, Mengão director admits to trying to get a star player from the yellow jersey and hopes to get another opportunity.

Flamengo remains active behind the scenes to assemble a competitive squad for the start of the next Brazilian volleyball season. With new investments in the project, the club is targeting a key reinforcement: opposite Rosamaria, a standout player for the Brazilian national team and one of the country's top players.

Rosamaria is considered one of Brazil's top volleyball players today . A key player for the national team, she was a key player in the 2022 World Cup runner-up finish and won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She has also finished runner-up in the Nations League three times.

Former player and idol of Flamengo basketball Olivinha announced this Tuesday (09) that he will not continue on Flamengo TV. Since October 2024, he worked as a commentator on the club's official channel , but confirmed the end of the contract through social media.
