The acquisition of land at Gasologista, in Rio de Janeiro, increased fans' expectations for a own stadium for Flamengo. However, challenges began to appear. Recently, the Energy and Basic Sanitation Regulatory Agency (AGENERSA) determined that part of the area belongs to Naturgy, the former Companhia Estadual de Gás (CEG).
Ricardo Lomba, candidate for president of Flamengo's Deliberative Council, highlighted possible complications in an interview with journalists Bruno Marques, Luiz Antônio and Matheus Leal. The election for the presidency of the council takes place this Monday (16). Lomba competes for Plate 1, while Álvaro Ferreira competes for Plate 2.
"The purchase of land can be analyzed from two perspectives. First, the from the passionate fan. It's spectacular. It's everything we wanted. How are you going to vote against this? Lomba.
"There was precipitation. There was a political moment in the government of the State of Rio and a campaign for president of < a href="https://www.flamengo.com.br/" target="_blank">Flamengo. These two things come together. tramples over a series of issues that have been ignored", analyzed.
"We don't know what lies ahead"
Former vice-president of the Deliberative and Football Council in the administration Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, Lomba highlighted that the purchase of the land was a significant achievement for fans, but criticized the lack of more in-depth planning. Among the challenges mentioned, the candidate highlighted the need for decontaminationof the area, for which there is still no structured plan.
"We don't know what lies ahead. Of course we want the stadium, the land, but what are we buying? What do we need to do to build it? This decontamination story: what is it? What is the project like? It's a series of details that we don't know", he admitted.
"We approved it out of excitement"
According to Lomba, the board members' decision to purchase was made amid euphoria, but He considered that the excitement does not diminish the strategic value of the land and reinforced that, despite his questions about the stadium, this is not a criticism of President Rodolfo Landim's management.
"I'm not judging the administration that ends on the 31st. I don't know what they know. But we, counselors, no one knows anything. Without fear of making mistakes: we approved the excitement. Technically, there wasn't enough information to know if it was good or bad. I think it was worth the risk. However, we'll see the size of the risk after January 2nd", he concluded.
With the end of Landim's management in December, it will be up to the new board of Flamengo led by Bap< /b>, who will take over in January 2025, deciding the next steps related to the land and the long-awaited red-black stadium.
The new agreement will bring the Rio de Janeiro club R$268 million per year and positions the team among the biggest contracts in world football with the betting house.

Flamengo's Deliberative Council approved, this Tuesday (19), the master sponsorship contract with Betano , one of the global leaders in sports betting. The link will begin on August 20, 2025 and will remain valid until December 31, 2028 , guaranteeing the club R$268 million per season. The agreement is considered the largest ever signed in national football.
The partnership includes brand exposure on the uniforms of the professional team and also on Olympic sports such as volleyball, basketball, and women's soccer. Additionally, the company will be featured on Flamengo TV content, expanding commercial integration and global visibility. The board emphasizes that the agreement is not limited to financial support, but opens doors to new business opportunities.
With values comparable to those of European football giants, the contract brings Flamengo closer to clubs like Real Madrid, PSG, and Barcelona. For comparison, Flamengo's partnership surpasses sponsorships from clubs like Ajax, whose partnership with Ziggo generates only €8 million (approximately R$51 million) per year. This amount places the Brazilian team in 10th place in the world rankings for largest sponsorship deals.
This Wednesday (20), at 8:30 am, president Luiz Eduardo Baptista , known as Bap, will be live on Flamengo TV alongside Guilherme Augusto Figueiredo, General Director of Betano Brasil. The conversation will be led by João Guilherme and will cover the details of the negotiation considered historic.

Striker Juninho traveled with the Flamengo squad to Porto Alegre, where the team faces Internacional this Wednesday (20) , for the decisive clash of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. However, the player's use is not yet confirmed . Out of the last match against Colorado for the Brazilian Championship, the center forward lost space in recent weeks and was not related in three consecutive games, including the first leg duel at Maracanã.
Internally, the club's board is evaluating the athlete's future, as he has received inquiries from Saudi Arabian football clubs, with loan proposals rejected by the club. Previously, Juninho was close to a move to Sevilla earlier this year.
Negotiations, however, were halted after coach Filipe Luís intervened, contacting the striker to convince him to join Mengão's project. The investment was substantial: R$37.2 million to acquire the number 23, who currently has no place on the team.
In 2025, Juninho played 22 matches for Flamengo , scoring just three goals and providing no assists. He played 726 minutes that season, almost always sporadically used by Filipe Luís. In the Carioca Championship, he appeared in eight matches and scored two goals.
He has already played six times in the Brasileirão, without finding the net. In the Libertadores, he played four games and scored one goal , while in the national cups and the Club World Cup, he failed to stand out.
