Marcos Braz, Flamengo's vice-president of football, pointed out on Monday (04) Mengão's desire to renew the contract with Gabigol. The announcement took place during a press conference at Ninho do Urubu, where Luiz Araújo was introduced as a new member of the team.

Gabigol has a contract with Flamengo until December 31, 2024 and, as Braz said: “it goes fast. Apart from that window, there are only two more.” He recognized the importance of the number 10 shirt for the team, especially in winning the most recent titles. In addition, he said that the entire management of Fla will have to be calm because what remains is the search for “a good number”, referring to the value that will be suitable for both sides of future negotiations.

These statements by Flamengo's vice president took place at the same press conference in which he was asked about his disagreement with Gabigol. The discussion took place in the last game (01) due to the precarious conditions of the Maracanã lawn and continued with them somewhat excited. However, it was assured by Braz that this would not be a reason to discourage the striker from remaining in the team.

Gabigol scored his 150th goal this weekend with the red-black shirt. In the table of the best scorers in the history of the team, he is in ninth place behind Mengão legends such as: Zico (509 goals), Dida (264 goals), Henrique (216 goals) and others. Gabigol's superiority within the Mais Querido is clear.

Even with disagreements and an injury due to the poor quality of the pitch in the last game, everything points to Gabigol playing tomorrow (05) against Atlético-PR.

After the 1-0 defeat to Peñarol, in the first game of the Libertadores quarter-finals, coach Tite held a press conference at Maracanã. The team did not perform well and was booed by the fans. Despite the setback, the coach remained confident for the second leg, which will be held in Uruguay.

Regarding the boos coming from the stands, Tite admitted that the fans' dissatisfaction is understandable. "Of course this hurts, especially on the human side. But experience shows that, when you deliver a good production, the fan's reaction is proportional to the love they feel for the club", said the coach, highlighting the emotional bond between the fans and the Most Dear.

FLAMENGO HAS NOT WIN AWAY SINCE 2022

The coach was also asked about the difficulty of Mengão in achieving victories away from home in the Libertadores, since 2022. The last victory away from home came on August 31, 2022, against Vélez Sarsfield, with an impressive 4-0. "We have a great opportunity to break this sequence This is part of the history of football, and I believe we are fully capable of getting there and changing this scenario", replied Tite, showing optimism.

EFFECTIVENESS IS THE FOCUS IN THE RETURN GAME

Tite guaranteed that the team will be more effective in Uruguay, promising a better performance. "Within two or three minutes, we score the goal, and from that point on, we work on the result. In some moments we were hasty, and the opposing goalkeeper also had merit. But I'm confident that we will create half of the opportunities and convert them into goals there. You can charge me later", said the coach, projecting a positive scenario for the second leg.

Argentine goalkeeper Agustín Rossi, who has been at Flamengo for over a year, has not yet fully adapted to the reactions of the fans during the games at Maracanã. After the 1-0 defeat to Peñarol, this Thursday (19), in the quarter-finals of the Libertadores, more than 60 thousand red and black booed the team, an attitude that displeased the player.

Rossi expressed his dissatisfaction with the booing that started in the first half. "The fans always want victory, that's normal. We also always look for a positive result. But I think these boos so early are unnecessary, just like what happened with Lorran during the Copa América. We still believe in the dispute. It was just a goal", commented the goalkeeper, showing confidence in the return game.

ERICK PULGAR BECOMES THE TARGET OF THE FANS

The boos at Maracanã they started in the 12th minute of the first half, after an error by Erick Pulgar when the ball was thrown, which resulted in Peñarol's goal. Since then, the Chilean has become the target of fans' dissatisfaction, who criticized him with every touch of the ball. In the second half, when he was substituted, Pulgar continued to be booed by the red and black team, reinforcing the tense atmosphere in the stadium. b>

In addition to the players, coach Tite was also the target of protests from the fans. Offenses were heard from the stands, which affected the coach, who admitted he was shaken by the insults. Full stop! Braz rules out signing a new striker to replace Pedro

Flamengo's Football Vice confirmed that he discussed hiring after Pedro's injury, but says that the market is closed and praises the duo Gabigol and Bruno Henrique

Flamengo will no longer make signings in 2024, this is what Marcos Braz guarantees. After qualifying for the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil, this Thursday (12), the vice-president of red-black football gave an interview in the mixed zone of Maracanã and confirmed that the club considered hiring a new striker after Pedro's injury. But the board's final decision is to trust the attackers who are in the squad.

“We believe in the end. There were four hired at the beginning of the year, four now. We raised the hypothesis of bringing in a striker, but we understood, talking to everyone, that it was bringing someone to actually solve it”, began Braz after Flamengo 1 x 0 Bahia.

The manager recalled that Gabigol and Bruno Henrique has already been very decisive with the Sacred Mantle and has all the capacity to take over the top scorer spot. Camisa 27, in fact, was the author of the assist for the winning goal this Thursday.

“Whoever we have here has solved our problem many times, like Gabigol, Bruno 9, as he did today. Flamengo has already closed the window. Let's go with what we have until the end, recovering players. Gabigol returned today.”.

Some attackers were offered after Pedro suffered a serious injury while serving the national team. The name that gained the most traction within Flamengo was that of Frenchman Anthony Martial, formerly of Manchester United, but the deal did not move forward. Now, Marcos Braz confirms that Mengão is no longer on the market.

Flamengo signed this season: De La Cruz, Viña, Léo Ortiz, Carlinhos, Michael, Alex Sandro, Carlos Alcaraz and Gonzalo Plata. Reinforcements that together cost R$298.2 million to the club's coffers.

“It happens in football. Gabriel solved our problems several times and resolved them well. I'm not casting, but there's Bruno Henrique himself, Carlinhos. We are comfortable (with these attackers) for the competitions”, added Braz.

Marcos Braz admits Gabigol's departure from Flamengo

Gabigol was the main theme of the football vice interview. Asked once again about a possible contract renewal, Braz finally acknowledged that the trend is for Camisa 99 to leave at the end of the season.

“There may be a chance of contract renewal. It’s not impossible, but, unfortunately, it’s unlikely today”, concluded Marcos Braz.
