It has become a tradition: when a player signs with Flamengo , his social media accounts skyrocket in popularity . This factor was highlighted by the club's president, Luiz Eduardo Baptista ( BAP ), to justify adjustments to the players' contracts. During a meeting with advisors last Thursday (20), the director revealed that the visibility provided by the club has become a differentiator in negotiations.

“A player comes to Flamengo and gains a million followers,” said Bap, adding that if the athlete is active on social media, he can earn around R$120,000 per month in advertising. Given this, the club has considered this aspect as a comparative advantage when negotiating contracts.

Currently, several players are taking advantage of this reach to close sponsorship deals. Gerson , for example, advertises for FlaBet, the club's official betting house. Arrascaeta uses his networks to promote his cake shop, demonstrating how athletes can monetize their digital engagement.

Other points of the meeting

In addition to the impact of social media, Bap addressed several topics during the meeting with the counselors:

Own stadium: he admitted that the inauguration of the project in Gasômetro in 2029 is unlikely.

Contract with Libra: defended the need to review the agreements.

Gerson's renewal: he stated that the proposal is on the player's table.

Jorginho as coach: he joked that fans should "pray" that the coach's wife likes Rio de Janeiro.

Priority for the season: he reinforced that the Brasileirão is the main objective of the year.

New fan membership program: announced that it will be launched soon.

Flamengo begins preparation for the Brazilian Championship

While off-field issues remain on the agenda, Flamengo 's squad returns to training next Monday (24) to begin preparations for the Brazilian Championship . The team debuts in the competition on Saturday (29), against Internacional , at Maracanã , at 9 pm (Brasília time).
